Group B strep elective section?

Advice/opinions please I’m so confused! So I tested GBS positive before this pregnancy, so they will be treating me as if I currently have it and plan to give antibiotics during labour. At 28 week app, midwife told me when they last tested me (idk when it was though!) that I was negative. I know it can change all the time though. I have swabs to do at 36 weeks so that should give me a bit more of an idea if I am positive but I know I could still have a changed result by the time baby comes.

Anyway I have been reading that if your waters break and you’re after 37 weeks, they will want to induce you straight away (and it seems from what I can gather this would be a dreaded drip induction 😭) I had the drip with my eldest and it was awful, ended up with epidural, venteuse delivery, episiotomy and nearly a c section. I desperately want to avoid that all if I can again, because I know I would have to request an epidural before the drip went in, there’s no way I could cope with that level of pain again.

I also think it’s super likely I could end up going down that route, because with both my girls my waters broke and I didn’t go into labour and ended up being induced. And I’ve read that the longer your waters are broke for, the higher the risk of infection. With both the girls my waters broke and I was given 24 hours for labour to start naturally and it didn’t.

All this to say, I’m wondering if I should opt for an elective c section? I know it’s not without its own risks but I am desperate to avoid the drip again, and the c sec has a much lower risk of passing on GBS. But on the other hand I have never had a c sec, fairly clueless about them except that recovery can be brutal. I’m also not sure if it’s too late to ask for one, as I’m 34.5 weeks and not mentioned it at all to my midwife x

I can't advise on the Group B Strep, but I had an elective section 7 months ago and it was honestly a great experience. Everything was so calm, baby was out within 5 mins. I felt like I could get back on with normal tasks within a couple of weeks and felt completely myself after about 6 weeks x

I had group b strep with a couple of my pregnancies. With my first my waters broke at home so I had to go straight into hospital to be put on the antibiotic drip before labour. They had advised me to come straight in if my waters had broken. Think it was every 4 hours I had to have it.
