Brown/Pink Discharge - nearing end of 7 weeks

Hi there - new to all of this...

I've been experiencing brown discharge since yesterday. It came VERY faintly (resembled debris at first), then a familiar brown discharge, and this morning, it had more pink in the discharge.

I'm not in any pain (other than crippling anxiety). Also, I have not had any symptoms of nausea or have vomited.

I was experiencing soreness of breasts, and I am tired, but I have been working out still (prenatal workouts) and otherwise feeling fine.

sensitive information: I have had sex with my husband as recent as 5 days ago and wonder if this result may be from that experience

Completely scared and freaking out thinking this may be how a miscarriage starts....

Anyone's guidance, advice, or personal experience would be so helpful!

hello, sorry to hear you're having such a horrible worry, I didn't want to read and run so hopefully can just offer some words of assurance :) brown blood is nearly always old blood, if it was new and fresh it would be bright red. Some pink blood can also be usual especially after having sex as everything is much more sensitive than usual. I know everyone is different but for me when I had a miscarriage in January the bleeding started as pink then changed to red very quickly and got heavier and heavier within only a few hours of it starting. From what you've said, describing it more as discharge than a fresh flow, it doesn't sound the same and it's good you don't have any cramping either. I do hope all goes well for you. The first trimester is an especially terrifying time, I remember panicking every time I went to the loo but it does get better x

@LouLouLabby ....you have no idea what reading your response means to me. Given this is my first experience, I'm freaking out.

And no matter how often I read throughout the web, I guess my logical brain isn't connecting with my hormonal brain.

I'm so sorry to read you had experienced a miscarriage. I often don't know what to say as I can't imagine. And thank you for letting me in on this tragic experience....even it's for comparison reasons.

I hope you have been successful since though...my heart bleeds for you.

I've had on/off scant brown discharge for a few weeks now. It started about 6 weeks, lasted 10 days, stopped for a good few days, started again Sunday night, lasted a couple of days and seems to have stopped again the last few days. I'm 8+2 now. I went to the EPU about it, and they saw a cervical erosion which can bleed easily if there's a surge of hormones. They scanned me on Tuesday and found a baby that measured fine, (and one that didn't, but that's a different story) and the sonographer could see no reason for the spotting. It's obviously still worrying, but the more I've had (it hasn't got any worse) the more I've tried to accept that that's just how I am this pregnancy..

I would call EPU if I was you and see what they advise, it doesn't sound totally negative but worth getting checked out

It's quite common. I also had this at 6 weeks and was sent to the EPU. The diagnosis was implantation bleed. That embryo is now a robust 21 year old.

Thank you all for the responses!!!

I do have an appt coming up and have contacted my OBGYN to see what I should be doing. She suggested getting a date/pelvic ultrasound to see if everything is OK.

I'll keep you all posted!

Oh I'm sorry to hear of your update, I have my fingers crossed for you. When is your ultrasound due?

Update

After going through 6 medical centers, I was able to get my blood taken, urine collected, a vaginal swab and an ultrasound.

Mind you, I have NO answers. I'm in Canada and lab techs aren't legally allowed to tell clients anything.

When I took the vaginal swab, there was red blood...it wasn't saturated...but it was mixed with red and brown.

Later, when I finally managed to find a facility to have an ultrasound, and once they did a 3 min internal examination, I was left with more questions then not. Also, when the technician removed the "wand" it wasn't covered in blown but fragments of brown discharge...which was reassuring and confusing!

With no answers being given until my doctor receives the results, I was left with only an oppourtunity to snap a few pictures...the top picture I believe is our Peanut.

The spotting/brown discharge comes and goes...I was sore yesterday after it all.

I have no option but to wait until the weekends over...
