Small gestational sac

I've had one previous MC, now on my second pregnancy. Had some light spotting and was referred to EPU yesterday where they scanned me at 5+4 (I'm 100% certain of my dates as I track my temps so I know exactly when I ovulated). Plus my first positive pregnancy test was on 23 February at 12dpo. A gestational sac and yolk sac were both seen at the scan but no foetal pole yet which I understand is normal. She said the sac was a little under what she would expect at this gestation but wasn't hugely concerned, said they would rescan me in two weeks and hopefully baby and HB would be seen.

Anyway I didn't write it down but I'm sure she said the sac was only measuring 3mm? Which would be tiny for 5+4 and I wouldn't have expected them to have seen a yolk sac either if it was that small? Any experiences??

a quick google says 3mm is around 6 weeks so seems about right

I dont think so, for the gestational sac? Maybe for the yolk sack but not the GS.

@Tyano again a quick google suggests a normal yolk sac between 5-10 weeks measures between 3-5mm, over 6 mm is considered non viable. So yours still sounds absolutely fine

No its not the yolk sac I'm worried about, it is the gestational sac which only measures 3mm

But if it is that small then I'm surprised a yolk sac could be seen at all (I don't know how big the yolk sac is).

What was the outcome. My daughter is 6 weeks exactly. We know because it’s ivf. Gestational sac measured small for 6weeks (mean 4mm). Could see yolk. No fetal pole. The sonographer wasn’t very hopeful. She got to go back in a week if she hasn’t miscarried.

Hey, I had exactly the same news yesterday. 6 week scan (IVF so we know the dates) and there was no fetal pole. She could see a gestational sac but it was only 4mm.
