Sudden loss of symptoms at 8 weeks

Has anyone else had this and things have worked out okay? I had a private scan on Saturday at 7w 3d and all was fine, heartbeat seen, dates matched perfectly. I had started to feel sick at around 7 weeks and it peaked on Monday and Tuesday, I was in bed most of the day and I could barely eat, constantly retching when doing anything other than lying down. On Tuesday evening I had a sudden bad stomach ache, didn't last long at all but felt like period pains. Yesterday I felt fine, just tired but sickness has gone. It's really unnerving. I've not been up long today but again I don't feel the sickness I felt a few days ago. I have my booking in appointment on Saturday so I'll mention it then. I might seem a bit over the top but I have been TTC for around 3 years so I think I'm just worried generally that it won't last. I have a 5 year old and during that pregnancy I felt nauseous for a few weeks, though I know each pregnancy can be different.

I have the same thing, though at 6/7weeks. Had nausea at the start of 6 weeks and now, a few days later, I don’t.

Do symptoms come and go? I’m really really anxious about it.

Izzie94x · 09/03/2023 09:14

Hi ladies,

symptoms can definitely come and go and are not a great indicator of whether something has happened or not. I know it’s so so hard, I’ve worried consistently throughout my first trimester as this is an IVF pregnancy and wanted so so badly.

I felt nauseous from week 7-8.5, then nothing after until week 10! And felt crappy from 10-11, I’m now 11+1 and feeling good again.

I have friends who have had MMC who have had hideous symptoms throughout and up to the day of a D&C. Which is just horrendous but certainly made me realise that symptoms really don’t mean much.

The odds are in your favour, whilst I know it doesn’t feel like it 🤍✨ x

Thanks @Izzie94x IVF pregnancy here too after a looooong time and two losses. It’s helpful to hear that symptoms can come and go.

Sorry to hop on your thread and not offer anything helpful @lostfrequencies. I need to try and reduce the anxiety a bit, if I find anything that works I’ll let you know.

One thing I will be doing is getting a foetal/pinard sthetoscope so we (I mean, partner) can still listen to the heartbeat at home. Hopefully one of those will give you the reassurance you need

if you have sudden loss of symptoms its worth calling EPU if you are genuinely worries, are your boobs tender and are you still tired? Maybe i would be over cautious because i had a missed miscarriage, but if i had that i would straight away be getting checked out tbh

symptoms coming and goin are apparently normal but my doctor asked me last time did i still "feel pregnant" and honestly i didnt and that was a major red flag

This is generally advised against by midwives as a lot of people rush in to the women's health unit panicking when they can't find a heartbeat, and it's just because baby is a funny position and/or placenta is in the way. Once you can hear baby's heartbeat they will check it at every MW appointment and you should also go in to the WH unit if there is anything such as a loss in movement (if you can hear baby's heartbeat then you'll be able to feel them moving).

This happened to me this week, the heartbeat seen at 6+5 however i lost symptoms at 8 weeks , heartbeat had stopped at 7+2 they didn’t know why . I was told low risk of miscarriage once heartbeat starts , also missed miscarriage is 1-5% so seems i was very unlucky to experience this .
I had weak pregnancy tests and never felt well during the pregnancy different to last time my DD i had strong tests and felt well .

Thanks everyone. So sorry to those of you have experienced losses, but thank you for sharing with me.

I had my booking in appointment yesterday and I spoke about it with the midwife. She referred me to the early pregnancy unit so hopefully I'll hear from them tomorrow. I am approx 8 and a half weeks, so she said they'd likely scan me at this stage.

Really hope it's a good outcome for you @Dayze.

Could have written your post myself @Dayze

I’m eight weeks pregnant today , confirmed by a private scan yesterday during which we saw the little heart beating away. Then today, after weeks of feeling horrendous nausea, fatigue, constipation, food aversion, frequent urination - I feel nothing, everything has just disappeared overnight. Just sadness at the thought of a potential loss.

Please let us know how you get on at the EPU, I will be keeping you in my thoughts and wishing for a happy outcome for you xx

lostfrequencies · 13/03/2023 17:20

Thanks so much @LucyEleanorModeratz I will update after my scan on Wednesday morning.

@lostfrequencies can I ask how you got on? I am experiencing sudden loss of all symptoms after 2 weeks of awful sickness. I’m 8+2 x

God I'd completely forgotten about this thread! Well I am now sitting in the sofa with my 5 month old so yes it all worked out fine. General feelings of nausea resurfaced for a bit at around 10 weeks I think. Wishing you all the best, I know what a worrying time it can be x

No probs! Honestly at this point I would stay cautiously optimistic and hopeful, and enjoy the break from nausea ☺️ You could try and get a referral to the EPU but doubtful they'd do it on loss of sickness alone (I had a scan because I had a v slight bit of blood on wiping and I mentioned that at the booking in appointment - I was amazed that the midwife referred me tbh). There's always private scans if you couldn't wait til 12 weeks x

@lostfrequencies

thank you! It’s been back the last day but milder. Think I’m just going through a better patch! Got a private scan on Friday 😊😊 xx

Ellsx6 · 24/07/2024 22:32

@CharlH2108 what was your outcome? Going through similar now. Heartbeat seen at 7w5 all looks good felt so sick and rough for past week today I've just had a random dull feeling in my uterus and ALL symptoms gone. No sore boobs no sickness absolutely nothing. Booked a private scan for Saturday.
