How soon will I need my normal size pants? Should I take some to hospital with me?

Hi,

Was wondering... The MW tells me I could stay in hospital 24-48 hours. I have been told to bring lots of pants. Will I need some maternity ones as well as my size? Or some slightly smaller? How soon do most women lose the bump effect?

The maternity ones should probably be bought (if disp.) one size bigger as I have heard that they are made small. As to getting back to your normal shape...in pants I have never had to worry about the size coz I wear a thong...but if you wear anything other than bikini or thong I think it likely that you will have a few weeks to go before getting the bump to reduce. I heard that conservatively you will look like you did at 6 months after delivery.

You will need BIG pants for the maternity pads.

I was a size 10 and bought size 14, if this helps....you will lose your bump but will be left with the sagging excess skin and fat.

I would use maternity ones because they are big enought to accommodate the huge maternity pads you'll be wearing!

I bought a big pack of cheap granny pants from Tesco for the first week or so. A size or two bigger than I normally wear.

agree with kindersurprise. I got granny pants from Poundstretcher!

Anything labelled 'maternity' just means paying extra money.

mildmannered - no I meant up until the delivery...have some bikini ones for after...thong on stitches...YOUCH! Sorry...wasn't being clear...am overdue and all my focus is on baby getting out...addling my brain! ;o)
