Anyone else in 3rd trimester and got COVID?

I felt tired and wiped out on Saturday -lm 32 weeks with twins so just thought it was that. Then on Sunday couldn’t taste my food and decided to test. Husband laughed as he thought l was being paranoid as l have already had it twice before and l have had all 4 vaccines. Positive test was super faint so l thought it wouldn’t be too bad. But l feel so rough! It is worse than when l had it the 2nd time.

Anyone else in the same boat?

Me! I'm 35 weeks and tested positive yesterday
Feel rough but only like a bad cold/mild flu luckily

EL8888 · 10/03/2023 00:01

@JG24 how are you feeling now? It was a slow burn for me. Day 1 was slightly tired, 2 was snotty and 3 l started to feel properly ill. Day 4 and 5 (yesterday) l was in bed. Bit better today but drained

Mind you l had to get out of bed, as the lying down was making me vomit because of the reflux

@EL8888 Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday I've been shivering and sweating. And I can't sleep as I'm all congested (hence the 5pm message)
I'm going to end up taking today off work too but think I'll feel lots better at the weekend hopefully
It's just frustrating not being able to take anything. I'm taking the max Paracetamol but that isn't keeping on top of my headache and sore throat. But as far as I know we can't take anything for congestion?
how are you? Did you tell your midwives?

EL8888 · 10/03/2023 10:05

@JG24 l did wonder when l saw your super early reply! Yeah it’s tough only being able to take paracetamol. Normally l would be getting stuck into the Night Nurse, cold & flu tablets and Sinutab (my sinuses are killing me).

I told my midwives but they didn’t seem concerned. They advised rest, lots of fluids and some paracetamol. How about you?

I feel like I have covid but I’ve done 2 negative tests. I’m 30 weeks. At first I thought it was a weird side effect from the whooping cough vaccine but this is day 3 of being stuck in bed so think it must be a virus of some kind. Was wondering if I should talk to the midwife or not. I’m just exhausted!! I’ve been working too hard lately which probably hasn’t helped but can’t help feeling stressed about how much I’ll have to go back to on Monday!

Midwives said as long as there isn't reduced movements then they're not worried.
Strangely the baby has been moving round so much more today, not sure if that's a bad sign? We're snowed in here so I' struggle to make it to hospital if there was something wrong
The phlegmy cough has kicked in today, hoping it's a sign I'm working my way through the symptoms and the end is in sight!

@JG24 weirdly enough my 2 have been more active as well? But they’re quite “free spirited”
shall we say. Until recently twin 1 would play hide and seek at scans. They are both the same size as typical 32 week old babies, het don’t appear to have read the memo about twins being a little smaller than singletons 🤷‍♀️

@ru53 whooping cough got to me but in a different way. I had diarrhoea for well over a week

It could also be a virus. It feels like a lot of people are sick at the moment

I did - 2 years ago at around 36 weeks. Was the worst I ever felt in my life but all was well. Not sure if they still do but they used to offer regular scans after you recover from Covid (every 4 weeks till due date)

Melusina123 · 12/03/2023 07:04

I just had it at 30/31 weeks. Felt like an extremely grotty head cold and laid me up for three days, but the bub was super active throughout and other than the misery of stuffed up sinuses I didn't have any trouble breathing and it didn't go to my chest much at all. Midwives said "just one of those things, get lots of rest and water and ring us beforehand if you need to come in".

Now a week or so later my sinuses are still a bit stuffed up, but I'm otherwise fine.

I'm quadruple vaccinated and last had omicron in June 2022.

Just posting this in case anyone else stumbles across this thread - felt awful for about a week and still feeling tired so yesterday called the midwife. Turns out I have a low iron count but it didn’t get flagged on my last blood test because it was one point over the lower limit. Midwife said the levels have probably dropped since the test (2 weeks ago) which is why I was feeling awful. Apparently it’s very common in pregnancy so if you’re very tired and lightheaded but not covid positive maybe get your iron levels checked!
