Does anyone have any views on Ealing Hospital?

I feel I've been given the run around by the NHS and wondering whether trying to find my way through the maternity care 'dire-ness' is worth it.
Once I found out I was pregnant I had no idea where I wanted to have the baby. (Fairly new to the area and was still in shock!) So my GP automatically referred me to Ealing Hospital as my 1st option, Queen Charlottes as no. 2. Having then had a little scare and rushed to A&E at Queen Charlottes before my scheduled 12 week scan, I then asked my GP if my referral for amternity care be changed to Queen Charlottes as my 1st choice. (Hope this makes sense!) My GP tried, but Queen Charlottes say they cannot take me as they are overbooked til mid-Sept 2008. (I am due in July 08).
So it appears its back to Ealing hospital. I have heard some stories!! When I went there for the 1st time for a scan a while ago I saw a giant dead rat outside the main entrance for example.
Can anyone elaborate or offer me any pearls of wisdom?!
