Paternity leave?

Can anyone help? Don’t know if I’m just overthinking. Partner has filled the form out for paternity leave this week. His work told him to use the form on the gov website so he did.

I’ve just looked at it and it says do you want the paternity pay/leave to start on the due date. He clicked yes because it doesn’t give you an option for it to start the day they’re born?

but then the gov website also says that it can’t start before baby is born so just saying you want it to start from the due date just mean when they’re born?

can anyone help?

I was always told paternity leave stars the day after baby is born if baby is early

I thought so too. Same if late?

I don't know what the legal rules are but DH filled out due date both times but it was agreed he'd work until the baby arrived each time (even if that had been after the due date).
