17+1 bleeding

Wise MN could I please ask for a handhold. 17+1 weeks, just back from a late night visit to the hospital due to bleeding. FTM via IVF, they couldn't find the cause but were able to tell me it has come from my uterus but also that my cervix was closed so how did it come from uterus? Scanned me and 🫘 was moving with a HB. Anterior placenta with a 4.3 fibroid next to placenta with some lower left sided abdo pain. Watch and wait with the instruction of bed rest for 3 days. To monitor the bleeding and call them back if it doesn't resolve. Low PAP-a so on aspirin for that but to stop that for next 3 days. I don't know if I'm mentally strong enough to process this 💜

I'm just here for a handhold while you're on bed rest and to say I'm sorry this has happened. You've been through so much with IVF already, it's just not fair you're experiencing this too.

Your chances are very good at this stage of pregnancy, well over 95%. I've always had bleeds (albeit in earlier weeks) and my cervix has remained closed so I've kept the pregnancies. I've never been given a cause, doctors just said I'm growing a human so a bit of blood is inevitable.

@whatahun thank you for the handhold and your reassuring words 💜 I feel like a total fraud loafing in bed. The bleeding is brown today (sorry if TMI) which is a positive sign as this was something I've been told to monitor. It was a shock last night to wipe and see 🩸 it felt like all the air left my body. DH has been amazing and very supportive, he's being the very calm one for the 2 of us at the moment ❤️

I've been there! If it helps, I've had red blood, brown blood, even little bits of what I thought looked like period tissue. For some women it means the worst, but not everyone.

So glad you're being taken care of! It's extra hard not to be anxious after MC or struggling to conceive, it is easier for men when it's not in their bodies. My husband thought I'd lost my mind...which I had.

Thanks @whatahun, I've dozed on and off through the day and still feel absolutely exhausted 🥱 mum popped down and made us tea which was a lovely surprise and let DH have a break too as he's been working today on very little sleep due to our trip to the hospital 💜
