Menorrhagia - will post partum bleed be worse for me?

I’m currently pregnant with my first baby and third trimester isn’t too far off now. I’m planning on having a caesarean and I heard that, whether you have a vaginal birth or c-section, women will experience a heavy post partum bleed. Heavier than a period.

The issue is that I suffer with menorrhagia. When I’m on my period, it is so bad that I have to change my night time pad (during the day) every half an hour or an hour. I will be in excruciating agony and pass out several times a day. I’ve been hospitalised on numerous occasions. It has always been like this (I’m in my mid-20s) apart from when I was on the pill (I stopped it 2 years before I fell pregnant). I have ovulation issues so it’s a miracle I’m pregnant!

Does anyone have experience with menorrhagia and was your post partum bleed even worse than your usual period? Thanks in advance.

Yes. And it lasted for 6 whole weeks. I wish I’d sought advice. I also wish I’d known that that I didn’t have to suffer for years with my periods the way I did, but DM had always said ‘oh, you’re just like me with heavy periods’ so I’d always believed some women just suffered & that was it!

Congratulations on your pregnancy.

Yes, lots of very heavy bleeding, 8 weeks with first. 6 weeks with 2nd. About 8 weeks again with 3rd.
I had mirena coil for a few years and bleeding was lighter. After taking it out periods never returned to full force. Although they did go from every 28 days to every 23/24 days.

@PregnantQuestions I was worried about this with my first, but was pleasantly surprised. Everyone said it should be like a heavy period, and mine can be pretty heavy. But it was more like a medium flow for me. It was more watery and smelled sickly sweet (no idea if that's normal!) but can't remember how long it lasted.
