paracetmol is fine to take

kaa0901 · 11/02/2008 09:59

paracetamol only. no cold and flu remedies. honey and lemon if you have a sore throat and glycerin pastilles from boots but thats it.

hth

I was taking paracetamol all day yesterday and they did absolutly nothing

I was going to go to the shop and get some orange juice and lemonade (hot lemonade) but dp is at work and all 3 dc are on half term

Try massaging your sinus area and temples while you lean over a steaming bowl of boiling water and vicks. (If you have no vicks or anything to add then just the steam will still help) If your sinuses are blocked it'll cause you headaches and aches etc. Drink lots of hot cups of tea/your favourite hot drink to soothe your throat.

These help for me, but I hope your DP can pick you up something nice on his way home to help you. Maybe you could ask him if you can go to bed early while he takes the dc's when he gets home?

Get Well Soon!!!
Hope it goes ok for you.

you can take ibuprofen too- it is only in the last 3 months of pg that you can't take it.

Hope you feel better soon

SydneyB · 11/02/2008 13:53

Iliketosleep - go to Boots and ask for cough medicine you can take when you're not pg. I got some linctus which just has glycerin lemon and honey in i think and surprisingly it really helped. Also take paracetamol at regular 4 hr doses as that does make a difference. Poor you.

Hot toddy!!!! Hot water, lemon and honey. Also if you can get hold of some Manuka honey, it is a natural antibiotic & antiviral...

Minkus · 11/02/2008 20:49

I can sympathise as I am suffering too! Pharmacist said Buttercup cough mixture was ok to take, so I've been taking that which at bedtime seems to make me feel a bit better and someone on here recommended Boots own brand lemsip as it doesn't contain any drugs other than paracetamol- so might not do anything more than a couple of tablets would in theory but the honey and lemon it's mixed with was really soothing.

whomovedmychocolate · 11/02/2008 20:51

Try propping yourself up in bed, it's the only way you'll get any sleep. Also if you have any lavender oil, a nice long bath with that in may make you feel a bit better.

I had a horrid cold last week - really thought I was coming down with flu, had sickness and aches and everything. DH took over and looked after me and DH and I'm starting to feel better now. But the thing that got me through, repeating the mantra 'colds have a 72 hour peak' over and over and sure enough three days later though I'm still a snot faced sniveller, I do feel better!
