Roughly 6 weeks pregnant. Have tried searching for a similar thread but can't find one?

Wondering if there are any foods that can't be eaten in pregnancy.

Have done a quick google but wondering if there is anything else I should avoid.

Thanks.

Is the best to go by, congratulations x

Was just about the post the same NHS link. There probably aren’t other threads on this topic because the NHS guidelines are really nice and clear on this I think.

Twoinapod · 07/03/2023 17:27

Just stick to nhs guidelines

Agree. Stick to NHS and don't Google random things or you'll see all sorts and drive yourself crazy.
Also don't panic about pasteurization. In the UK unless is says 'unpasteurized' on the packet then it's pasteurized. You're unlikely to encounter unpasteurized dairy products unless you're in a proper deli or it's straight from the farm!

If you're anything like me, it will become largely immaterial within a day or two of reading it, as you'll develop an aversion to anything remotely interesting anyway.

Thank you all. Didn't think about checking nhs site, so feeing silly now Blush x

Hey, I was so confused what I could and couldn't eat during pregnancy. This might help you https://momsdailydiary.com/can-i-eat-popcorn-while-pregnant-is-it-safe/

Hope it does!

Hollyppp · 12/07/2023 12:41

Ignore anything other than NHS

Peony654 · 12/07/2023 17:09

As others said - follow NHS advice and don’t Google anything else!

@NewMum456 are you a bot? What a bizarre article, and about popcorn of all things. Stinks of crappy AI.

MasterCherry · 12/07/2023 21:20

This is the future of internet discussion though, isn't it... 😭

NewMum456 · 12/07/2023 21:26

Im a real person. If you read further down the article is tells you food you can and can’t eat while pregnant.

This

I just decided to ignore anything that didnt come from NHS website or from my midwife

its weird enough that shark meat was on that list!

That being said, I think reading up on advice on what foods may make pregnancy symptoms worse is a good idea. Its not that we cannot have them, its more that its at our own risk

For example, I wish someone warned me about orange juice

Whataretheodds · 13/07/2023 08:21

The one addition I'd make is that the NHS just says 'limit herbal teas'.

I drink loads of herbal tea anyway and would have drunk more while avoiding caffeine. I realised after my first miscarriage that I shouldn't have been consuming any ginseng which was in my herbal tea. Lemongrass was also cautioned against.

Whataretheodds · 13/07/2023 08:22

(Fine in a Thai curry but not lemongrass root which is usually what's in the tea)

It’s also American I’m guessing, as it states no raw or undercooked eggs, whilst here in the uk eggs with the lion mark on them are deemed safe to eat raw or undercooked in pregnancy, so not an accurate list for here.

PlainOldEmmaJane · 13/07/2023 08:32

And congratulations op.
