lines not getting darker on preg tests (poss slightly fainter)

I'm about 4.5weeks preg and the lines on the preg tests today and yesterday are not getting any darker and if anything slightly fainter than a few days ago. (Same tests, always first morning wee). Can't say for sure they are getting fainter as obviously over a couple of days the lines on the older ones fade or darken.

Is that a bad sign or could it just be down to the concentration of my wee or something like that?

They are definitely still positive tests but I assumed that if things were well as the amount of HCG rises the tests would darken?

Sorry to sound obsessive but I had IVF so there is a lot at stake!

I don't know, sorry. Has the hospital said you are pg or is it your home test?

SaveScrabulous · 11/02/2008 10:00

Home tests but they should be reliable enough.

Can I ask why you are doing more tests when you know you are pg?

SaveScrabulous · 11/02/2008 10:06

Because I had IVF and it sends you slightly obsessed by it all NAB!

To check if the lines are getting darker given that HCG levels are supposed to rise significantly.

Congratulations and try to relax

Each test is individual so different lines could look slightly lighter or darker than another.

Or as you say, it could be the old lines darkening and making the new lines look lighter.

Stop testing! You won't discover anything new about your pregnancy this way and will just make yourself anxious.

LOL in a I know what you mean way.

I just think it sounds like doing the tests is making you more worried than not doing them.

I know you are right but just need to be told it. It's so stupid (and expensive).

I know rationally that whatever is going to happen will - be it a chemical pregnancy or otherwise. And I've been here before (and have my lovely ds) so should know better. But it's SO hard!

Ok, no more pee tests I promise...I've run out now anyway!

It's a well known fact that it's impossible to have pg tests in the house and leave them untested!

Fingered crossed that all goes well for you and congrats again x

Thanks meemar - you are right about that. I wasn't going to test today but thought 'oh well there's one there!' so did anyway!
