I got pregnant (whilst on the pill).

I am 26 , have been with my partner for 8 years, brought a house 2 years ago and financially stable.

initially over the moon but as it is coming closer to having to tell my employer I can’t help but feel nervous and worry about getting judged.

has anyone else experienced this? I don’t know why but 26 seems young to me. Even thought I’ll be 27 when baby arrives.

thanks

I think it’s a great age to have a baby. I had my first at 21, and my second at 30. At 21 I had lots of energy but a lot less knowledge and quite naive. At 30 I was a lot more comfortable with everything but felt so tired. I think you are a great age and sounds like a perfect stage in life. Congratulations

I’m 24 and am 19 weeks, it was planned so I definitely don’t think you’re too young! I haven’t felt judged at all, aside from the odd comment about whether it was planned but speaking to other people I think you get the question at any age 🤣

Thank you! What do you do for work? I’m just getting nervous telling my manager, she’s 31 with no children and I’m worried about being judged for being ‘too young’ ridiculous I know.

@KellyM1998 Im self employed so can’t help with that 🙈 I really would try not to get yourself worked up about it, they understand people have babies and go on maternity it’s normal! That being said I’d probably be nervous too!

I had DS at 24 and currently pregnant and baby will arrive at 25. We're married, together 10 years and own our house. Yeah I'm the youngest mum in our group (the oldest is 44) but it doesn't matter really!

I’m 25 and just had my first. I’m a teacher and there’s lots of mums in the department, some who had kids in early 20s right the way through to some who had kids in their 40s. I do feel people generally think it’s on the younger side - I did have a ‘teen mum’ nickname from one group of friends lol - but it’s not anything I ever feel anxious about. I’m happy with my choice and as long as you are too then nothing to worry about :)
