Ugly bump

I’ve always had a very strange shaped stomach, it’s like a B, even when I’m slim.

It’s still B like, but because I’m pregnant, doesn’t look like a bump. I just look really, really overweight. Maternity clothes don’t fit well because they just sort of go into the middle of the B and make me look awful. I know it’s a silly moan, but I just wish I had a niceish bump I could feel proud of!

I have a B shaped belly usually too and noticing the further along I get (now 21 weeks) the more its filling out in the middle and becoming rounder. I still have an overhang at the bottom which is just how the fat sits on me but I just make sure that the clothes I wear don't highlight this. It's hard to love your body at the best of times and know it is hard especially with pregnancy changes but I've managed to just think of what my body is currently doing.

I’m sure you look lovely OP, we’re always our own worst critics!

How far along are you? I found I hated the way I looked until the beginning of my third trimester. I started pregnancy a bit overweight, though my fat always goes to my arms/legs. Think big flabby thighs but with a disproportionately small waist and flat stomach. When I got pregnant I just looked overweight all over, even with quite a pronounced bump you could be forgiven for not knowing I was pregnant.

Hang in there, now that I’m almost at the end with a big rounded bump I actually like my body probably the first time in my life!

Me too! I've had a B shaped bump with my last two pregnancies and now this one too. It did round out more previously when I was around 3rd trimester. But I hate this awkward in between stage where I just look fat and not pregnant! On the look out for things that might help round the bump out, I've tried belly bands previously but didn't really get on with them.

I also have a B shaped tummy too and slim built but i have been thinking the same since being pregnant, i look more overweight/podgey around my midrift rather than having an actual bump but now im coming towards 23 weeks its popping out a bit more and becoming more rounded so id just say give it time and try not to worry about it too much. With the weather being as it is in England i just wear a lot of hoodies and baggy jumpers at the moment

Yep ‘B’ shaped tummy here too. I’m 16+4 now and I just look fat in the middle (but not everywhere else) so it looks odd. I’ve not got much of a bump yet so hiding it with my winter jumpers still so I don’t look pregnant at all and still in my normal jeans but I hate it. I had the same thing when I was pregnant with my daughter too and was a size 6 when I got pregnant! I’m an 8-10 now. I remember around 21 weeks my tummy popped and the “b” was gone and replaced with a lovely rounded bump so I know the time will come but it being you down when you see people with lovely smooth bumps
