Pregnancy

Is this pregnancy nausea?

I'm 5+3 today with my second DC but my first DS was over 7 years ago and honestly I have totally forgotten my pregnancy with him so can't compare. I haven't exactly had what I would consider "nausea" ie the kind of sick feeling you get from motion sickness or a tummy bug, but what I have had for the past week is a horrible acidic feeling in my stomach. This is worse first thing in the morning and after eating. Feels a bit like acid reflux crossed with that feeling you get when you are waiting to go into a job interview and your stomach is all churned up. Do others have this? Is is morning sickness?!

Sound like sickness to me.
If it gets worse talk to your gp who will presribe some anti-sickness meds

I have this at the moment did it ever go away for you? I'm 22 weeks now and it's still there. On omeprazole for acid reflux which definitely helps the acid heartburn but does nothing for the horrible stomach churning.

I had that. It was awful whenever I ate wheat.

mine is AWFUL. I have terrible health anxiety and always worry there's something else going on because everyone I speak to says that pregnancy nausea feels like motion sickness or sea sickness. Can't believe I have it still at 22 weeks, so fed up.

Omg I'm sorry for you but I'm so glad someone else knows what I'm talking about as even my GP looked at me blankly and said "pregnancy sickness feels like motion sickness".

I do have the odd good day. Yesterday was a good day but today has been horrendous.

Have you tried taking Gaviscon? Pre-pregnancy I would have this due to stress induced reflux and now I'm pregnant I definitely have noticed two different types of sickness- sometimes I have the car sickness kind and sometimes I have the acid-y kind, which gaviscon helps with.

Drink it by the bucketload. And I take omeprazole. Helps my throat acid and the burn in the chest (boy do I know about it if I miss a couple of days of omeprazole!) but doesn't do squat for the churny stomach - that's definitely nausea unrelated to reflux.

I have had this throughout my pregnancy. I take cyclizine which takes the edge off. It's not reflux, its "morning sickness", just doesn't feel like motion sickness.

@cliovillee it's horrible!!! I've just had a decent size meal and it's kicked off like I've not eaten all day. Do you think it's sickness or acid?

For me it's sickness. I take omeprazole for the acid and it works on what I understand to be acid reflux - ie burning chest pain and actual stinging acid in the back of my throat. It doesn't do anything for the churny tummy and nor does gaviscon or rennies. So def nausea related.

To highlight - definitely sickness. Today has been my first full day of proper anti sickness meds (combined 3 prochlorperazine and 3 cyclizine taken alternately every 3 hours) and my stomach has felt totally normal today.

@cliovillee that's great news! I had an appt today with a gyne consultant who said it could possibly be a hernia, all symptoms I have to lead me to agree, she prescribed cyclizine after I asked to try it so fingers crossed. The churning pain is unmanageable
