Surely most people miss their period earlier than 5 weeks?!

Just that really. I'm 5+2 today (or 23dpo) and I had my first positive test the date of my missed period which was 12dpo. So I have now known for 11 days that I am pregnant and when I found out I wasn't even quite 4 weeks yet. Yet every app, website etc says something like "at 5 weeks you're probably only just noticing you've missed your period!". Surely most women would know much earlier they had missed a period, particularly if trying for a baby? I'm trying to work out if I'm missing something lol.

I think you answered your own question op 😊 lol, most people who are actively TTC could know prior to a missed period. Whilst those who aren’t actively trying or tracking ovulation, might not find out till up to a week after a “missed period”. As most would wait just in case to test! I’ve absolutely done that in the past lol. But like you, we were trying - in fact - it was IVF. So I we knew very very early 😂 but no, you’re not missing anything and dates will be almost correct! (They often move a few days or two) x

Yes, you're right... However, I was actually caught on the hop!

I was super stressed when my period was due, worried my cat had cancer, possibly hormones making it worse, but early wakings, hoping the meds worked, and crying.

Didn't really twig til I reached 5 days late!

I was one of these but it was because we weren’t actively trying. DC1 was conceived via IVF after years of trying so we didn’t really bother with contraception after that and I didn’t track at all. First signs were feeling tired and nauseous and then I started trying to work out when my last period was.
