34 weeks. In agony with cramps that are at the top of my bump that spread down to the mid section. Can’t get hold of midwife team to ask and feeling desperate.

I have suffered from IBS in the past and the cramping feels very similar so hoping it’s an IBS flare up but I’m worrying in case baby is coming early. Never went into labour with my first so no idea what I’m doing!

Hi

Firstly congratulations!

My baby is 3 weeks so this is all so fresh for
me and as FTM I remember asking this question a lot!

I don’t think I got any braxton hicks to know what they felt like but actual Labour I felt more towards my bum. It was pressure in my bum. I always had severe period pains so was expecting similar but I didn’t get any pains in my belly it was all very lower back and bum area. It came in waves as in once I realised what they were I could feel them starting up then going. At the time even though I had 3 sweeps and was 12 days over I still thought they were braxton hicks as were in my bum. Mine also didn’t get closer apart consistently even at 10cm! Everyone is different though so I maybe just keep an eye on how long they go on for, if they get worse and regular?

Good luck!

They feel like the worst period cramps you've ever had, and they come in waves and a regular pattern. Braxton hicks are also pretty similar, but there's no pattern to those

Best of luck!
