Visual Disturbances while pregnant

Hi everyone,

I am back with another pregnancy related question!

I just wanted to know if anyone has experienced any visual disturbances while pregnant that went away?

As I was approaching my third trimester I started noticing little moving transparent (or almost white) dots that dance around and are visible in the sky (there are 100s maybe even 1000s). I think I got a little fixated on them and now I notice them every time I'm outside even on other white surfaces.

I also have an increase in the floaters and little spots of flashes. Which are different to the dots I see in the sky.

I have my blood pressure checked every 2 weeks and it's always low (I've always had low blood pressure) so no signs of preeclampsia!

I have been to 2 opticians who have said my eyes are fine, I just have floaters but like I said the sky dots are not floaters.

I went to the doctor who prescribed me iron tablets but they have not helped. She put it down to pregnancy hormones.

I am desperately hoping this goes away after pregnancy because its at the moment causing me alot of stress and anxiety, just wondered if anyone else experienced anything similar or if I'm just going mad?

Thank you!

I’ve had this when I’ve not been pregnant, I was told it can be caused by either low iron, low blood pressure or dehydration. I think mine was actually a mix of all 3

I do have low blood pressure and low iron and I probably don't drink enough...and add all the pregnancy stuff in! So that would make sense. Did it go away?

@Lou234 it did, now I’m 6 weeks pregnant and noticed they were back, but I think I need to increase my water intake. I don’t tend to feel thirsty so I forget to drink much during the day. I do tend to get low blood pressure when pregnant too. But not drinking enough can also cause low blood pressure so I think it’s all linked. I’ve bought myself a big water bottle that hold a litre so I’m going to keep it with me and try to make sure I get through two a day

Thank you, its just nice to hear someone having a similar experience because everyone I talk to about it thinks I'm crazy!
