Here is my situation…

I came in today to start an induction. My cervix is completely closed, thick, hard and high up. They cannot break my waters and would even find it hard to insert dilapan rods.

Hormonal induction methods are not really an option due to having previous c section and I have a heart condition.

Reason for induction is because baby is measuring slightly big and I am really struggling with raised heart rate, exhaustion and sciatica.

I have 2 options…

  1. Opt for a c section (just dreading the recovery as have toddler at home)
  2. Wait another week or 2, try and get through it and see if my cervix changes enough to break waters or use dilapan (but then run the risk of going through all the pain for it to end in section any way….)

Thoughts?!

How many weeks are you? I'd do a section and just get baby out as long was its safe. Hugs xx

39 weeks. I’d love a vaginal birth in all honesty.. but maybe I need to just get that idea out of my head. Like I say, would I be even more disappointed if I waited another week or 2 and potentially labour for a while and for things to just not progress etc… when it could all be over and done with a lot sooner with section!

Maybe compromise and give yourself a week rather than 2 and see what happens? I don't envy your decision at all!

Its awful! I just feel so disappointed that nothing is happening down there! Last week I had a sweep, was 1cm and lost mucus plug straight away… but today my body is a closed book!

Given all you have said I would go for a section. I had a section with my 3rd, after a long drawn out induction that didn't work. Good luck x
