Iron Tablets - When do you take them?

My midwife has given me iron tablets to take and I've been advised to take them first thing in the morning with orange juice and then waiting an hour before consuming food, caffeine and milk. I'm finding this so hard to do as I just don't have time in the morning to wait an hour to eat and drink (I start work at 6.45am, leaving the house at 6.15am).

Does anyone else just take them whenever and have they still worked in upping your iron levels?

I have been trying to take mine first thing in the morning with vit C and then usually have breakfast 30 mins to an hour later but I’m not very strict with this. Sometimes I forget so just take it with food or have breakfast 10-15 mins later. I have also skipped a few days as I’ve forgotten altogether. My iron levels have gone up within a couple of weeks.

Calcium blocks absorption of iron so just avoid having anything dairy if you’re in a pinch

I just take them when i remember!

I took them in the morning with water before leaving the house (eg no breakfast until I got to work).
