14 weeks pregnant pink/red spotting

Hi all, I am 14 weeks pregnant currently and already have a 16 month baby. Before this pregnancy I had a chemical pregnancy/early miscarriage at 4.5 weeks then the next month we fell pregnant again. I had 4.5 days of spotting before finding out I was pregnant and nothing since. However yesterday evening I noticed very little spots of red blood when wiping a few times. I called my doctor and was referred to my early pregnancy unit today. They examined my cervix which is closed but I do have some cervical ectropion which the doctor said could have maybe caused it. They did a scan and baby is all ok. Placenta is a bit low but they said its normally goes higher once its fully developed. My urine sample had some white cells in it so they’ve sent for further testing to see if I need antibiotics (I don’t have any symptoms of infection though). The doctor also prescribed me progesterone pessaries for 2 weeks just in case as I had an early miscarriage before. Overall though the doctor said everything seemed fine and I felt reassured and hadn’t had any more spotting since.

However just now I’ve noticed some more pink/red spotting when wiping (a bit more this time) and in my knickers. I’m feeling really anxious and worried again. I hadn't applied a pessary yet but just did now.

Should I call my doctor again in the morning even though I’ve just been to my EPU today for checks? Has anyone else had experiences of this?

Hello, didn't want to read and run but assuming you had an internal exam today so they could see the ectropian, this could have aggravated it and caused it to bleed a bit. I'm only 7 weeks but went to the EPU about brown spotting last week and when they did an internal then she said 'don't be surprised if you get more spotting after this as there's an ectropian which can bleed easily'. I've also heard pessaries can irritate things too.
It's such a worrying time isn't it : (

@Malzzy such a worrying time :( sorry to hear you had spotting too but i've heard brown is good as its old blood at least. Did you have much spotting after the examination or since? They did give me an internal examination to look inside but I don't think she prodded anything. This morning the spotting is pink/diluted. I'm not really sure whether to call doctor again or just wait and see for a couple of days first. They did say to go back if it happens again but it feels so soon after only having checks yesterday!

I'd give them a ring today anyway and explain. They can either offer you reassurance or ask you to go in again, but it'll stop you wondering what to do- sometimes I think that's the worst part, knowing what to do for the best!
Mine lasted about 10 days in total, it didn't get worse or better in that time, just carried on then stopped about 4 days ago. I'm hoping it won't come back. Definitely TMI here, but when I was spotting, I was really 'dry' down there, so I'm hoping that was irritating it too..
