I delivered a beautiful baby boy through a very traumatic crash c section in September. He is now 5.5 months old. As he was cut out of me in a very rushed emergency, I was warned to not get pregnant for a year following the birth. Ex partner left me to raise a newborn all by myself, and now has weekly contact with baby. Then 2 months ago I met an amazing guy.Yesterday I found out that I’m pregnant again. Roughly 5 weeks. This was a complete accident as I did not get warned that medication I was briefly on would reduce the effectiveness of my contraception. I am absolutely horrified. He has been incredibly sweet, and said that it’s completely my choice in wether to carry on the pregnancy, however he is a junior doctor with an intense schedule, so it would be like raising a newborn by myself all over again. … What would you do?

That’s a lot to cope with, well done for making it this far!
Do you think it might be a good idea to seek medical advice, so you can weigh up those risks, as well as the difficulties of your current situation?

I agree in seeking medical advice as you have been advised not to get pregnant within a year so you need to find out the risks to yourself and to the viability of your pregnancy. Whatever you decide will be the best decision for you. My only advice would be to trust your instinct (once you have all the facts from the doctors!). It’s great that your current partner is understanding and supportive. Be kind to yourself, you’ve clearly had quite an eventful year that is all a lot to process!

Definitely seek medical advice I had a traumatic emergency c section won’t get into too much detail but I was informed by one doctor to try again in 18 months!

However because of our situation they knew we wanted to try again so soon, I was advised by the head surgeon if I get pregnant in the next 6 months it will be ok as long as my c section had healed very well!

I don’t know how healed you are so I can’t advise much on this because that was their main concern but you will be considered high risk from the beginning.

I am now pregnant again literally after 5 months from the birth and c section, I am now close to my second trimester and I am ok, my belly hasn’t popped out yet so everything is still ok.

the consultants and doctors are not worried at this moment, also I heard quickly because I didn’t have a baby to look after etc only my 5 year old who is quiet independent. I wasn’t lifting or carrying a baby so that may be another huge difference and why my c section healed quickly.

before I got pregnant I had just had a scan to check for PCOS and fibroids plus c section wound and everything from the wound was fine.
