Due April 21 - when do you reckon we can take baby on staycation?

Hope it’s OK to ask this question but Spring is in the air and I can’t help but get excited about going on a week staycation somewhere in the UK with baby. However, I’d appreciate advise on when best to go since baby will be born in April. Would end of August be too early?

We’d be driving and we’re aware that we’ll need regular stops as baby can’t stay in car seat for too long.

thanks!

I had my little girl in early March and we took her away for my mum’s 60th in late July (probably a 1.5-2hr drive if I remember correctly). It was fine and we had a lovely time but an absolute car full of stuff 🙈

We had to take ours abroad at 10 weeks, 5 hour flight, super hot country. Was totally fine 😊 I would definitely do Airbnb over a hotel and don't rough it!

All depends on you and baby really. The smaller they are the easier they are to transport! We went to France with our 8 week old to visit family and it was absolutely fine.

We went on holiday when ours was 3/4 months old. In the midst of him being realllly colicky (didn’t realise at the time that’s what it was!).

The drive was about 6 hours and it was absolutely fine. Just had some good long stops. I think the advice with them being in a car seat for a long time is if it is a regular occurrence. Also did an Air bnb which was perfect.

We had a lovely time 🥰 hope you get away 😊

We took our 1st born son camping in the Brecon Beacons , 1 and half hours from home. He slept in a carrycot. It was the August bankholiday 1981 and he was 1 month old. G. was a fully breastfed baby. I wouldn't recommend taking a bottle fed newborn baby or a pre term baby on a holiday anywhere where you cannot maintain sterile feeding. My baby is 43yrs old now.

Ds1 born March, took away in July for DMs 60th - big house in lake district, plenty of family to help out.
