Can anyone help me ? My last period was the 21 January and my periods aren’t always on time Do not sure how far along they are but I went for my first appointment today at the dr and she said I’m only 3 weeks pregnant but all the other apps I’ve used said I’m 5 or 6 weeks pregnant! The dr said my hcg levels are 194 ! What does that mean !

im not sure why the dr would say that, dating works from your last period until you go for your dating scan at 12 weeks. They should be counting you at 5+4 now. Which would work out about 3 weeks since conception but I’ve never known a medical professional use from conception. Try not to worry about it too much. Sounds like the drs messed up there.

Have you referred with your local maternity unit? Many are self referral now.

Going from your last period you would be classed as 5+4 until your dating scan at 12 weeks.

If your periods are irregular it is likely you would be less than 5+4.

The HCG is the pregnancy hormones and typically double every 48 hours. Having a HCG level of 194 doesn't tell you much, besides you are pregnant. You would need another HCG test to see if this number is increasing.

Your doctor may have said that you are 3 weeks pregnant due to the level of 194 but really one HCG test alone cannot date the pregnancy so I'm surprised the doctor would do this.

If you know 100% you were 5+4, for example if you were tracking your ovulation then 194 is quite low. For reference I had HCG done at 5+4 and it was a similar number and ended in a loss. BUT as your periods are irregular then it's possible you are less than 5+4 and so the HCG level may be right on track.

Your options would be to see if the doctor does another HCG and if so; what that level is. Or wait until your scan in 2 weeks.
