Not a UTI?

Hello all, just wanted to pick your brains! I’m 9 weeks pregnant and about ten days ago I went to the doctor because I felt like a UTI was coming on - I get them a lot so I know the signs. There was no blood or massive pain but it just felt a bit burny! They sent my urine sample off to the lab but it came back negative.

But I’m sure something is going on and it seems to be getting worse. Yesterday and today my urethra just feels sore and like it’s burning, though when I wee it’s not particularly painful. My lower abdomen has also been really achey - I know this could from uterus stretching or constipation (I do have constipation as well as IBS). But it just feels… different. Apologies for vagueness!

Has anyone had anything similar in the early stages of pregnancy? I should say I haven’t had any other major symptoms like feeling feverish or being sick, and I was tested for STIs before conception. Thank you, everyone x

I'd go back to your doctors - or speak to your midwife if you have one at this stage (I know some people don't until 10 weeks but I met mine at 8). I think in pregnancy it's more important than usual to follow things up if they don't feel right.

I had similar recently were I thought I had a UTI. Doctors gave me antibiotics, but when results came back from lab it was negative. A week or so after the antibiotics finished it seemed to be getting worse. And there was still no sign of a UTI in follow up urine test lab result.
I did a bit of Googling and found out that hormones can affect the acidity of your wee. It suggested probiotics to help. So ever since I’ve been eating probiotic yoghurt daily. Within a day or two the issue went.
I’m fairly sure it’s the yoghurt that ms helped me.

You may not have the same issue, but it could be worth a try! I know it’s a little random but I was willing to try anything!! 😂

Yes you’re right of course! I’ve got my first midwife’s appointment this weekend :)

It’s definitely worth trying anything - thank you!!

I’ve had the UTI feelings a few times this pregancy, have been tested everytime and always negative! Mine is more the constant need to wee and never feeling like I’ve finished. It seems to go away after a day or 2 so I assume it must be the baby pressing on my bladder!
