Hello! im currently nearly 19 weeks pregnant, and I’m 23, but I’ve been struggling recently with nausea! I’m finding I can’t get food in to me quick enough as soon as I wake up, I’m nearly being sick.

when not pregnant I suffer with similar symptoms, if I don’t eat I struggle to function, dizzy, nauseated, shaky, heart beats really fast.

I feel like this has become worse with being pregnant, I am going to mention this at my next appointment, but I’m wondering if anyone has been the same or has an idea why this could be. with my first DD I was exactly the same, I’ve always just put it down to low blood sugar as a guess, I passed my first GTT with my DD but yet to have it this time round, but I’m anxious about it as it made me Poorly last time and I can’t not eat I nearly passed out. I’ve also lost weight so far in my pregnancy rather than gain which is worrying me.

I’m not avoiding food on purpose!!!!!!

it’s literally if I eat an hour later than I usual would but it can be when I’m not even hungry I have to eat! Anything like fruit or eggs doesn’t get rid of the feeling, but things like bread, pasta etc do. I dont to my knowledge have any type of diabetes or other health conditions apart from suffering with IBS.

thank you.

* I’m also losing weight, have been weighing myself and I have lost 3lb up to now, not a lot but it’s worrying me.

This doesn't sound like regular morning sickness to me, and if you have these problems even when not pregnant I think you should get it checked out ASAP. When is your next appointment

Anonymoususer456 · 04/03/2023 08:17

Yes definitely not morning sickness, my next appointment is on 10/03 so just under a week away, I have mentioned all this previously but it seems to fall on deaf ears.

It sounds like hypoglycaemia? When did you have the gtt? Maybe make a separate appointment if you feel midwives are not listening. Or else make it very clear that you are very worried about it.
I could be completely wrong, but I was pregnant at they age and found that midwives were quite dismissive of any concerns. I didn't find this with subsequent pregnancies when I was older and married. But maybe that's because I was more confident/assertive by then.

@Msmossy You’re the second person that has suggested hypoglycaemia, I haven’t had my gtt with this current pregnancy just yet, my last one with my DD was over 2 years ago now, yes I had pre eclampsia with my first and they dismissed my symptoms until my blood pressure was dangerously high!
