Dentist taken me off treatment list?

Hi during my pregnancy I went into my dentist with a chipped tooth but receptionist said I wasn’t on their list? Wouldn’t clarify I was so shocked and upset I walked out with that explanation. I hadn’t been in a long time due to pandemic and me being vulnerable and loosing two family members. I know I had moved but couldn’t remember if I had updated my address or my married name the receptionist was so awful and didn’t want to help me at all. Why would I be taken off their list?? I have anxiety and disabilities and now can not find an nhs dentist for me and my newborn.

Not sure if this is the case in your area but in mine NHS dentists are taking people off the list if they leave more than 2 years between check ups so it might be that?

Probably too long between appointments. She could have been nicer about it though.

They take you off after 2 years of no treatment. It's a right pain, especially considering COVID.

Extra annoying if you're pregnant and now can't get in to an NHS dentist because the waiting lists are massive.

My dentist tried to do this to me even though I'd been in twice for emergency appointments during Covid, and she did a quick check up whilst I was there as they weren't doing them otherwise. Then when they restarted, they prioritised children etc.

The receptionist was a right cow about it.

I'd rather have a vet, they're much nicer to their patients!

I know several dentist all of whom have stopped or are stopping NHS work because the NHS contract doesn't pay them enough with rising living costs.
Hardly surprising when they can make good money privately, they aren't a charity.
But it does suck that the government won't improve their NHS contract!

This literally just happened to me, but I complained and said I’d been to this dentist since I was about 2 years old and they put me back on🤣 I think you could try giving them a call and explaining why you haven’t been and see if they’ll help?

Update: I complained and I’m back on the list.
