Placenta previa/accreta

Hi, just wondering if anyone can give advice.

I've been told I have partial placenta previa with a posterior placenta. Hopefully it will move and no issues but just wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

I've (stupidly) read that placenta accreta is likely with placenta previa and previous c section.

But with my placenta being posterior and my c section scar being at the front, is this something I should be considering?

Thanks in advance 😊

I have low laying placenta which is also posterior, it has been for all my scans so far....it hasn't caused me any issues so far (35 weeks) I have one final scan on Friday to see if it's suddenly moved but it looks like mine is one of the ones that didn't move. No mention of accreta though.

How far along are you? Apparently the majority move so fingers crossed for you

How many weeks are you? Placenta accreta is an abnormally invasive placenta into the uterus and into the surrounding anatomy, and (ordinarily) would be picked up at the anatomy scan, then monitored extremely regularly after that. If you're beyond 20 weeks, or have had any scans past 20 weeks, it is incredibly unlikely you have accreta.

Hopefully your placenta moves up and out of the way.

I had this! Mine was fully covering the cervix and still was until the end so I had an ELCS. I didn’t have placenta accreta but was worried about it because I had multiple scans to check and was always told “they can’t see the scar”

Had a consultant appointment at 34 weeks and she didn’t mention accreta as a concern. I asked and she said “oh if we can’t see the scar then its
not an issue. But your placenta is posterior so it doesnt matter” 🤦‍♀️

So I imagine they will book a scan to check but seems unlikely xx

Thanks for your replies. It's really reassuring.
@Dyra I'm only 18 weeks so haven't had anomaly scan yet but had a scan to check the placenta as had some bleeding, that's how they discovered its partially covering.
Got my anomaly scan in 2.5 weeks and they said they will check again then to see if there's any movement but just hoping it moves before birth 🤞

@Perexi good luck for the birth, I hope everything goes perfect for you!

If it helps any, accretas really are very uncommon. Less than 1 in 300 occurrence.

I would have thought an anterior placenta would make accreta more likely than a posterior with a C-section scar. TIL.

Had my 20 week scan and my placenta covering my cervix but not all? Should I be worried got a scan at 32 weeks to see if moved, do I have to limit anything ect. Don't mind a section had one with previous pregnancy as long as baby OK

Mine didn't move at all by mid 30 Weeks and I have a cheeky monkey aged 10 months via c-section I only have him but it was a great experience

Can I carry on as normal then?
