Cystic hygroma in one twin 11 weeks MCDA twins

Hoping for some response, I'm currently 11 +6 week pregnant with identical MCDA twins sharing the same placenta.

I went for a private scan at 10 weeks just to get exited but unfortunately they found increased NT fluid and a cystic hygroma on one of the twins measuring 5mm at 10 weeks. The other twin had no alarming signs.

I then got rechecked by the NHS st 11 plus 2 and the fluid still showed on the same twin at 6.1mm and the other twin again appeared fine no fluid.

I have had NIPT blood screening done a couple of days ago and we have been referred to a FMU on the 6th of March but I'm just beside myself worrying until then.

Me and my husband are 25/24 and this is our first pregnancy following a MC in Aug 22.

I've read all the threads on here with postive / negative outcomes but none seem to be on twins!

My midwife did say that they would expect the fluid to be in both if it was chromosomal but until I've had CVS and my NIPT results are back they can't rule anything out.
Sad

Hiya, I'm in exactly the same situation as you right now and also am petrified. How has your pregnancy gone?

I have just had CVS as fluid is high in only one twin. A really worrying time.

Sending you lots of love x

Hello!

Sorry to hear your going through the same thing it's such an anxious time! Mines been uneventful from 16 weeks onwards. It turns out the increased fluid was early onset TTTS. I had an amino and they confirmed everything was chromosomally ok. I've just had 2 weekly scans for the twins since 16 weeks to make sure the TTTS never progressed thankfully it hasn't. I'm now 31 weeks planning a section delivery at 34 as one baby is still measuring 25% smaller but that's common in identical twins. I've got everything crossed for you but there's not alot out there for twin advice so give me a message if you have any questions xx

My SIL had non-identical twins where one had a normal NT measure and the other had a 6mm I think, but it was certainly enough to cause alarm. They said a NIPT would not help because it would have dna from both twins so she was offered an amnio - because ifbthe risk of MC she declined.

Both babies were born with absolutely not health issues.

i don’t know anything about Cystic Hygroma in pregnancy. Just wanted to say I have them. I had two operations when a child. I’m now in my 40s. Bit painful.
