So day of my missed period I got a 3+ and very strong positives on red dye tests. Now a week later I test and they're faint? Am I going to miscarry I've had cramp quite painfully the past 3 hours that's why I tested and they were faint

Dark tests are from last week lighter ones are from today

Hm - so the dark ones are one type of test and the light ones are the other type of test? Could it be that the tests you took now are just less sensitive ? Can you test on the same ones you did last week instead?

Twoinapod · 24/02/2023 21:50

It’s hard to say as they’re all different tests, although even the control line on the strip tests seems very light so I wouldn’t expect a dark test line.

It could be that they’re just different test types, could you try with another test like the top one?

I'm going to test on another clear blue digital with weeks next as I have one left still, I never thought about tests being different but if it's miscarrying I'd assume my weeks would also go down on a clear blue :(

However I read about a hook affect?

I know it gets bandied around on here a lot but I personally don’t put much stock in the hook effect. Out of random curiosity I took a test at 32wks and it was as much of a dye stealer as my earlier tests 🤷🏽‍♀️

I wouldn’t worry too much about your line progression given they’re different tests, but if you are going to do another digi test don’t forget these need to be done with fmu. As for the cramping, some level of cramping is normal at this stage but if it’s severe it would be worth calling your local epu for a chat and a check. Fingers crossed for you xx

I'll also add that on one of the days I did one easy@home test and one clearblue from the same cup of urine and the two lines with easy@home were quite different (control line significantly stronger), whilst with clearblue they looked pretty much the same
