Help! Has anyone got any good substitutes? I'm particularly craving something like steak or chargrilled beef 😬
(And yes my mw tested my iron levels last week haven't had results yet though)

Quorn do a peppered beef and a steak strips. I’ve tried the peppered beef, it’s ok. No idea what the steak strips are like.

Oumph do weird meat subs. I’ve tried the ribs -weird texture-never tried the kebab though.
Never heard of Dopsu before but they have no beef pieces.

there’s a TT account I follow that does a lovely one pot, hash brown topped cottage pie. I do it with Quorn mince and use the Asda free from ‘beef’ gravy granules. It is delicious. It’s the only Quorn I use regularly as I have it once a week. I’d never bought veggie gravy granules before this recipe, I’d forgotten how much I used to love gravy. I will find the TT recipe & come back & post. It might satisfy your beefy craving.

Quorn only needs 10 mins so I put the hash brown on baking paper in the oven, sauté then add everything & all the liquid to the pan (extra water, no wine) & just oven for 10. Stir then add Quorn mince, top with the half cooked hash browns then oven for 10 more mins & it’s done.

Tough one! I was raised vegetarian but went vegan 6 years ago. I never once craved cheese until pregnancy. I haven't eaten it and don't plan on doing so unless I feel unwell with it.

I have been eating substitutes: good fermented cashew cheeses rather than the plasticky supermarket variety. I find staying satisfied food-wise also helps reduce cravings. Eating a variety of foods, regularly, reduces my cravings.

I can't really speak to good meat substitutes as I don't eat them/wouldn't know what tastes most like meat. My husband thinks some burgers like impossible burgers/moving mountains taste nearly identical to processed beef burgers.

Subway have just brought out a meatless philly steak sub that I've had twice now and honestly I was a bit concerned they'd actually chosen the meat version because it seemed so realistic to me but I watched them make it and it definitely wasn't the meat one! So something like that might satisfy your craving?
