Hi, if you've been into Chesterfield and fancy giving me some comments please do. I'd love to hear what they are like at crunch time. Or if you are due to give birth there you can wave at me and tell me what you think so far. I am so curious to see if anyone on mumsnet has been in there.

Cheers xxx

Hi there, I had both my two there some time ago, had to be induced with both (they are now 5 and 7). My memory of it all is very hazy to say the least...to be honest I found the whole giving birth business very traumatic first time round which has probably clouded my view of the whole thing IYSWIM. Second time round it was much better.

I did spend time after at Darley Maternity Unit in Darley Dale, Matlock which is a fantastic facility available for anyone to go to straight after leaving Calow. I'd fully recommend that experience!

Oh cool! They mentioned I could go on to Darley for a week after if I wanted to. My partner doesn't like the idea though because it would be visiting hours only. Did you have a partner/visiting family and what did they think?
I really like the idea of going there myself. They say they have good suport to help you kick off breastfeeding.

Thanks for the info. xx

Hi, can't remember Darley being strict about visiting times. If you're lucky you get your own room with en-suite and I seem to remember DH coming and going as he pleased. Its very relaxed there, the midwifes are friendly and are there if you want them to help you establish breastfeeding. Its very small and personal, more like home from home.

I didn't go there with my first as no one told me about it, I really wish I had as I struggled in the first week.

Wow. That DOES sound good.
I hope my DP will reconsider his position on this. Cheers TurkeyLurkey. xx
