Have been ttc for over a year with no joy. Feel like it will never happen.

Anybody here felt the same?

YES - ttc for years, finally got pg a couple of months before my first appointment with assisted conception unit. Don't give up hope! Are you charting your cycles? I found that really helped with timing.

wanttohidemyname · 10/02/2008 18:02

No charting, trying not too think about it TOO much. not working!!

ttc 2.5 years. BFP on day of IUI appointment. good luck

Kezza7779 · 10/02/2008 20:28

ttc for 2 yrs, conceived once i got appt for fertility clinic as i gave up!!!

callmeovercautious · 10/02/2008 20:33

TTC for 2 years exactly (it was a New Year resolution) found out I was expecting DD on New Years day 2006. 2 weeks before a consultation appointment

Don't give up hope, I suggest trying at odd times in your cycle, even though my charts said mid cycle we got DD by TTC the day AF stopped (about day 7).

bellabelly · 10/02/2008 21:59

wanttohide - if you find that you are thinking about it a lot anyway, you might as well give charting a go. I know some people are not keen but really it's just taking your temp each morning. I kind of liked knowing for sure when I had a chance and when we'd TOTALLY missed ovulation (or if I hadn't o'd at all that cycle). Not trying to badger you into it, it's just that it was such a big help for me!

beansprout · 10/02/2008 22:01

We tried for a year and charting worked for us. Turns out that I don't ovulate when I think I do! There is lots of support and advice on MN on this. Good luck.

BitTiredNow · 10/02/2008 22:04

Tried for 4 years for ds1 - eventually went to see the doc - got pg 2 months later with Clomid. Then they just kept coming - naturally - 2 more in 2 more years. Boots used to do a good fertility pack with a good video about your cycle, and once you know your body's signs of ovulating, it really helps. we got dd1 (the thrid) first try just by being aware of when to really go for it. Keep posting and good luck

maisiedaisy · 10/02/2008 22:08

Tried 2 years for DD, now expecting number 2 and got BFP first cycle of trying. Good luck

its sooooo annoying. And I have days where I just totally flip out and cry about it. im finding it really hard tbh....

I think that's really normal - certainly remember having those feelings myself and how frustrating it is. Some months I didn't even want to get out of bed when my period came, just couldn't cope with the disappointment. Really hope it happens for you soon. Have you been to see your GP yet about getting any fertility tests etc done? Might make you feel happier if you are being proactive rather than waiting for it to happen?

BitTiredNow · 12/02/2008 19:56

I did too, love. Big hugs.

callmeovercautious · 12/02/2008 21:25

I remember going to family things with my Sister and her 2 LO and thinking - next Easter/bonfire night/Christmas we will have our own. I would go a bit quiet for a while day dreaming of it all and DP would slide up next to me and hold my hand. We only had 2 years which I know is good going but it felt like forever at the time.

maisydaisy - I am so pleased to hear that! I am worried about trying again incase we go through it all over but I love hearing about success stories, congratulations!

graysongirl · 13/02/2008 12:18

Really sympathise with your situation, I was 20 months ttc during which 4 close friends started ttc, all got pg really fast and gave birth. Was very depressed at times but found that starting the process of tests after 12 months really helped me as felt I was actively 'doing something' about it. Had a lovely consultant which also helped, my results were low so thought I would have to have Clomid/assisted conception but had an HSG in nov and literally a week later was pg. Currently 12+1, had the scan on Monday and all is well. Still can't believe it really, we were stunned.
I also found that I could be happy for lovely friends if I directed my hate and jealousy to smug pregnant strangers or the teenage chavs who stood outside the hospital smoking and generally being chavvy whist obviously pregnant. Worked for me !!!

I'm going to give charting a go. Have bought a thermometer and am going to give it a good go.

Have not spoken to GP about me but DH has had sperm tests- Clinic said these were fine. They looked awful to us but I have been assured they are ok!

OP posts:
CantSleepWontSleep · 18/02/2008 20:57

I was ttc for 3.5 years, got pregnant, had missed miscarriage, ttc for another 7 months, got pregnant, had dd, decided to ttc again 9 months later, and 14 months after that got pregnant again, and now due in Oct.

Never give up!

wanttohidemyname · 18/02/2008 20:59

has anybody here got knowledge of sperm test results?
have posted these elsewhere too........

concentration; 117million per ml
motility (a+b)= 43%
morphology 6%

dont think morphology and motility are ideal but clinic said they are good results??

wanttohidemyname · 18/02/2008 21:01

Ive seen you elsewher cantsleep- congrats!! very very pleased for you x

OP posts:
CantSleepWontSleep · 18/02/2008 21:15

Elsewhere on MN, or elsewhere elsewhere?

This might help if you've not seen it before - makes it look like morphology might be lower than hoped, and certainly worth questioning your HCP about.

wanttohidemyname · 18/02/2008 21:19

have seen that- the 30% is misleading, ours has been tested with the kruger technique so morphology should ideally be 10-15% but came out as 6. Its a more critical technique apparently. clinic said it was fine cos the average count should be about 50million per ml but his count is higher. hope it is ok

OP posts:
wanttohidemyname · 18/02/2008 21:20

have seen you on mumsnet

OP posts:
CantSleepWontSleep · 18/02/2008 21:23

Ah ok. I used to use another forum, and thought maybe you meant on there .

You are obviously pretty clued up on the results already!

wanttohidemyname · 18/02/2008 21:28

I am but at the same time very very very unconfident in our ability to have a baby

OP posts:
cityangel · 19/02/2008 00:17

wantto I am sorry you're feeling low there's a lot of that about at the moment. Please don't give up hope I know phrases like that aren't re-assuring when you face monthly disappointment. On the flipside at least the results so far haven't completely rules out natural conception?

There are lots of examples out there where it does work out after a while. Have you considered going back to the docs for more invasive tests or looking into fertility clinic options? Something we managed to avoid but it gave us more hope that things would work out one way or another. Although I hasten to add I am only too aware of how fertility treatment has no guarantees. Do they offer a second opinion to review your results again?

You really need to persuade the GP to refer you to an Assisted Conception Unit or the like that looks at your fertility jointly and runs some tests on you too. These can be done without having to commit to any specific fertility treatment.

Like Graysongirl we had an HSG and fell pregnant that cycle.
