I’ve just had my results back. I’m 38.

Down’s Syndrome 1 in 2494
Edward’s and Patau 1 in 1641

Are these results ok? I know they are low risk but do you think I need to get together the money for a private NIPT test?

@allgoodthings84 what did you end up doing? I'm also considering paying private for NIPT.

I haven’t really got the spare £400 if I am to be able to buy all of the other things baby needs. They are still low risk results and the majority of people with high risk results babies are still ok. I have had a look at what the 20 weeks scan checks for and Edwards and Patau are on the list. I talked it over with my partner and if we were closer to the high risk odds we would have. I’m not worried about the downs results I know for my age they aren’t bad at all and there were no markers on my scan.

Thank you for replying. Yes that all sounds like a good plan moving forward. I find pregnancy such an anxious time. Good luck with everything and you are right. I had a high risk last time and all was fine x

@Stargazer89 it’s an extremely anxious time. I really enjoyed being pregnant with my daughter but had nothing to worry about until right at the end. I’ve had 2 early miscarriages before this pregnancy so I’m on edge a lot. I know it will be worth it in the end but yep there’s so much to worry about.

@allgoodthings84 I know exactly what you're feeling. I also have a daughter then had 3 consecutive early losses so it's really hard to stay positive this time. I don't even like talking about being pregnant to the few people I have told because I feel like something bad will happen and it will all be over again.

@Stargazer89 that’s exactly how I’m feeling. I’m scared of another loss. I’m 14+3 but have obey told my manager and boss and my closest family and friends
