Maternity Clothes

Knowledgeable MN community. Is there any physical shops where they still have maternity range on the shop floor? I've ordered and sent back stuff from New Look, H&M, Asda and Next as disappointed with the fit / material / quality.

Ideally looking for;
Tops
T-shirts
Leggings

I've been lucky with some bits from Vinted.

Thank you for any help!

I was so disappointed with the lack of maternity clothes in shops (FTM and assumed it was standard!). The only shops near me that had Instore maternity sections (albeit small ones) were Primark and H&M. I ordered maternity leggings in the end from Love Leggings and have absolutely lived in them, would thoroughly recommend them!

Twoinapod · 16/02/2023 20:58

I really struggled to find anything in any physical shops. I would highly recommend leggings from love leggings. They were the only ones I could find that weren’t see through. Avoid anything from boohoo, absolutely crap quality.

mrsmacmc · 16/02/2023 21:04

@Twoinapod @Cdoc thank you away to look at love leggings just now and keep mooching on Vinted. So frustrating that stuff is online by default 😩 (FTM to be here too) ❤️

@mrsmacmc definitely get on Love Leggings! I ordered the standard everyday ones and thicker winter ones in my pre- pregnancy size and they’ve just stretched with me (but not see through at all). I bought them at 27 weeks and am still comfortably in them at 37+5! 🤍

mrsmacmc · 16/02/2023 21:26

@Cdoc did you go for the high waisted or the normal everyday ones 💜

@mrsmacmc I just got the ordinary everyday maternity ones linked below. I’m only 5’3 but they come up quite high on my bump, even now at this stage they’re about 1-2cm below my bra line, so keep everything tucked in nicely!🤍

@Cdoc thank you for the link and saying where they sit on you, nothing worse than creeping leggings / tights / knickers 💜

@mrsmacmc completely agree! I wanted them as high as possible and they definitely are 😊

Some of the maternity clothes prices are joke and you still have to order online. I am big fan of shein so didn't think twice, ordered some leggings and trousers, jeans. Got 5 pairs for under £50, can't fault quality, all good staff, fitting well. I am 12 so don't need tops or dresses at this stage, but shein has wide choice of maternity clothes, whatever you need. Then went to high street, only Primark had some sad choice of maternity stuff in store, £18 for jeggings, managed to get one half price, but will stick to tried and tested shein. Highly recommend

mrsmacmc · 17/02/2023 10:48

@Moni81 thank you, I'll have a mooch on Shein tonight and see what I can find ❤️ don't have a primani near me. Pricing is ridiculous!

Jojo Maman Bebe have maternity clothes on the shop floor. I like their clothes because you can then use them for nursing as well. Their baby clothes are cute, too!

Another vote for love leggings leggings and jeggings. ASOS have also been great for basic tops/tees. Quality is quite nice and reasonably priced for double/triple packs. I've also got ASOS jeans but whether over or under bump I find myself pulling them up quite a lot which gets annoying.

mrsmacmc · 17/02/2023 19:09

@BopaEli thanks for the intel, will persuade DH to take a trip through, I'm limiting my driving as got PGP which is frustrating! 💜

@Bananabreakfast123 thank you I'll check out ASOS for tops.

I've got LL on their way to me 🤞🏻 they do the job! 💜

Couldn’t find anything in shops. I got leggings from love leggings which are great. Just got couple of dresses and tops from shein which were surprisingly lovely quality. Struggling to find much tho

Jodielou5972 · 17/02/2023 22:40

I second shein, I just got a gorgeous pair of maternity p-jays off there!
Although I would recommend gumtree, if you don't mind second hand that is. I managed to get a huge bundle of stuff for only £20, she just put everything maternity in the bag! Dresses, leggings, tops, p-jays, tights, jeans! Best purchase so far.

mrsmacmc · 17/02/2023 22:55

@Jodielou5972 absolutely don't mind secondhand! Hadn't thought of checking Facebook marketplace, I blame the hormones 🫣

It's okay, you have the perfect excuse at the minute - baby brain 🙄 haha. My excuse for everything!
Hopefully you can find something on one of them, saves a bit money too!

@Cdoc sorry to jump on this thread, thanks for the love leggings recommendation. Can I ask if you went for regular or petite length in those maternity leggings? I'm the same height as you and not sure which to to for, I like them to not feel cropped by my ankle so not sure if petite will be just a little short!

Bananabreakfast123 · 19/02/2023 08:02

@marleyandme I'm 5ft5 and have a regular and petite pair. Petite sit on my ankle nicely (not cropped above but don't like them below), regular are too long unless I pull extra material up my leg which gets annoying. Jeggings I find a little shorter - petite are definitely ankle grazer length on me and don't quite meet my high tops so I'd probably buy regular next time. I think I've got fairly short legs for my height (used to buy 7/8 as full length) but if you're 5ft3 petite would probably be fine. I've returned several pairs before and they're completely hassle free, really quick so maybe worth trying a few pairs and see what you like.

Cdoc · 19/02/2023 09:50

@marleyandme of course no problem 😊I actually went for regular length, mainly because I wanted to make sure I could pull them up high enough to fully cover my bump and like you I don’t like them sitting just above the ankle. They definitely aren’t too long for me, but similar to what @Bananabreakfast123 said the returns are so quick and easy (I bought two sizes initially and kept the smaller size) that it might pay to order a few sizes and see which suit you better. They honestly are the best maternity leggings I’ve found and I think I’ll order some non-maternity when I’ve had baby

marleyandme · 19/02/2023 12:28

@Bananabreakfast123 @Cdoc that's so helpful, thank you both! Will order a few different sizes and see how I go 😊

mrsmacmc · 19/02/2023 13:22

@marleyandme I'm 5ft7 and the petite sit just on my ankle as my torso is longer than my body and come up to just under my bra at the moment. I usually get tailored trousers shortened to 29" 😂 my seamstress always has a good giggle when I rock up for her to work her magic 💜
