Second pregnancy - how to meet people locally

Hi there :) I'm happy to say that I'm in my 12th with 🌈 baby and just thinking ahead. My first baby was born during covid lockdown, when all of the baby classes (along with everything else) was shut. It was a really special time, but meant that I didn't get to meet that many people early on.

This time round I'd love to meet friends locally at a similar stage! Wondering whether to do NCT again or if that's weird with a second 😂

You meet so many parents, but it's so great when you connect with someone with a similar sense of humour and values - that you'd be friends with even if you didn't have kids!

Any tips?♥️

Congratulations!

I wouldn't say it's weird to do NCT a second time. Most people say they only do it for the readymade group even as FTM. If you can afford it I would be tempted. I wanted to with my second, but all the sessions were still on Zoom. I wasn't about to cough up that much money if I wasn't going to get face to face. The downside might be that postnatally they might want to attend groups solely for young babies, which you won't be able to with a toddler in tow.

Alternatively there's the Peanut app. I've not used it (OK - I've tried, but I'm in a small town, and can't drive. There wasn't many local I didn't know already) but I've heard good things.

Finally there's always getting out and about to baby and toddler groups and hope for the best! I've lucked out with the one I go to. There's another mum there with a baby a mere 10 days younger, and another 3 months younger, and one 1 month older. We let them crawl around after each other while we chat. My toddler runs feral with the other toddlers. Great times.

@Dyra thank you so much for your lovely reply! That's really reassuring ♥️ I've looked into the nct thing and like you said, there's a top up one so that's definitely an option!

Thank you xx
