Hiya,

After endless worrying (long story but basically had trouble conceiving, diagnosed with pituitary tumour, got preggers, then high risk due to NT, had TWO CVS as the first one failed, monitored for fetal growth due to high PPPA) so to be perfectly honest, I have had enough of this pregnancy!

I'm full-term tomorrow (37 weeks!) and TBH, I'm done baking this baby! I just want to meet my little man now... MW appointment last Thursday and MW reckons the baby's 2/5 engaged, is a good size, perfect position and ready to rock and roll so if anyone has any good suggestions as to how to get this baby to come out, please let me know. Drinking raspberry tea as I speak...

Ax

i would not hurry things too much or wish the time away, you have potentially got another 5 weeks to go ! sorry !

sex is helpful for ripening the cervix though...

but baby will come when ready!

enjoy the last few weeks, put your feet up!

NatalieJane · 08/02/2008 16:53

Sex, nipple tweaking, visualision, walking sideways up and down the stairs, bouncing on a birthing ball, and nice long walks, with lot's of rest in between.

Baby will come when s/he is ready, so all of that is just for fun, and to fill the time

Congrats by the way, sorry you've seemed to have gone through the mill a bit, it will all be well worth it. You are on the final hurdle now

NorthernLurker · 08/02/2008 16:53

This isn't what you want to hear - but regardless of what you do baby is only going to come out when he's ready - and you could be looking at another 5 weeks (NL ducks as angel throws something heavy in her direction) However - I recommend sex - it'll distract you if nothing else!

beansprout · 08/02/2008 16:54

Although the baby is now classed as full term you are still 3 weeks away from your due date and possibly then some (ds1 arrived at 43 weeks!!). I know everyone says it but they don't come out until they are ready. Perhaps rather than playing the waiting game, plan lots of stuff for the last few weeks - lunches, coffees, cinema etc, so it doesn't feel like the last few weeks drag by too much. And good luck for when it all happens!!

NatalieJane · 08/02/2008 16:54

Pah, Lulu, she always beats me....

NorthernLurker · 08/02/2008 16:54

Thank goodness I wasn't the only one saying 'another five weeks'!

Lulumama · 08/02/2008 16:55

god, we are all so sensible !!

NatalieJane · 08/02/2008 16:56

Well it isn't quite time to open the bar yet.

Castor oil, spicy, pineapple, BJ curry?

NatalieJane · 08/02/2008 16:59

Ouch Lulu, couldn't I have had the norty step instead? Jeez....

Beansprout That is quite disgusting!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 08/02/2008 17:01

You cannot make this baby come. You may be able to help it on its way once its decided to come. But you may have another 5 weeks to go.

So, I suggest you alternate between days of sitting on your arse and watching DVD's, and days of meeting friends and getting out and about. Otherwise the next few weeks will drag.

Good luck xx

angel1976 · 08/02/2008 17:02

Hahahahaha, I knew it would provoke a reaction! Yes, I do understand the baby will come when it's ready but hey, some natural 'aids' to help things along can't hurt right?

The sex thing I am waiting till next weekend (I don't quite want him to come next week, I feel safer around the 38+ weeks somehow!). Anyone heard anything about EPO? Heard it can help with labour too?

I was told NO-NO to castor oil! The MW told me some horror story about some woman taking castor oil and then proceeded to have an early and very painful labour and she thinks it's all because baby is not ready!

I have another week of work (yeeks!) but yes, trying to fill my time up with dates with imaginary friends. It doesn't help that DH is due to start a new job on March 17 (assuming the LO comes on his due date March 1st and he does his two weeks of paternity with his soon-to-be-old job!) so come on baby! I will try all the other suggestions in between the waiting! NJ, are you sure you didn't throw the walking sideways up and down stairs one just to throw me off??!?!!!!!

OP posts:
NatalieJane · 08/02/2008 17:05

Nope, the walking sideways thing is supposed to open up the pelvic bones/area, I think..... something like that anyway!

My mum swears cleaning windows does it for her, 3 of us were started off with cleaning windows. Cancel the window cleaner for the next couple of weeks

NatalieJane · 08/02/2008 17:05

Oh and just to make it clear in case anyone thought I was actually serious, the castor oil thing was a joke.

angel1976 · 08/02/2008 17:08

NJ, apparently castor oil is still being used to encourage things along... Sounds disgusting anyway. Actually, MW did mention that we all sit around on our a* too much nowadays and getting on the floors and scrubbing can help LO get into optimum birthing position. Man, we are so going to get into trouble for perpetuating some proper myths here!

NorthernLurker · 08/02/2008 17:08

Could be too late NJ - all over the land heavily pregnant women with freshly ingested castor oil still glistening on their lips, are looking at their pcs in horror and thinking ' a joke, a joke....aaaaaaaaaargh!'

Lulumama · 08/02/2008 17:10

angely, go and lie on the sofa , with a box of cream cakes and watch DVDs for a week.

that is an order !

NatalieJane · 08/02/2008 17:13

Angel my MW said nearly the same to me, cowbag I had just finished scrubbing the house from top to bottom, was expecting a lovely 'go and have some rest, you're over doing things' type speach, but nope, she told me to do more

beansprout · 08/02/2008 17:15

Can I come off the norty step now please?

angel1976 · 08/02/2008 17:19

Too late Lulumama... While sitting here looking at this forum, I already ate two ring donuts and looking lovingly at the other two remaining (bought for hubby) and wondering if I can scoff all four without anyone (but my guilty conscience...) noticing...

My cleaning lady is coming for the last time on Tuesday so it is back to the knees for me after that. Greeeeeeeaaaaaaaat!

OP posts:
Lulumama · 08/02/2008 17:24

eat them, the damage is already done

bean and NJ, you may leave , but consider yourselves truly chastised

NorthernLurker · 08/02/2008 17:24

Eat those donuts at once! The other two will be lonely

NatalieJane · 08/02/2008 17:26

Another eat them from me, or am I too late?

NorthernLurker · 08/02/2008 17:29

Yes NJ - stop counting your bottles of castor oil and keep your eye on the thread
