Question for London mums: St Thomas or Royal London?

16 weeks pregnant and I didn't have a clue you have to choose the hospital where you would like to give birth. We live near Canary Wharf and Royal London would be obvious choice, I have just heard horrible things about the condition of its maternal ward. I know St Thomas is newer and prettier, but is it really that much better (lazy mum here wouldn't like to go far unless necessary)? Thanks for any advice.

St Thomas. Have heard lots of good things about it. Have done a birth at the Royal London and wasn't keen. Haven't done St Thomas' but keep hearing good things from clients and fellow doulas.

I had my wisdom teeth taken out at the London, and have no desire to visit there ever again. They had a police guard at the entrance of the ward. 'Nuff said.

Hi Aiti72, if you can afford, i would suggest that you consider going private. The NHS is just way to busy to give the care and attention mums deserve.
