Hi im hoping that here will be someone that can help me.
im 31 years old on 33 weeks pregnant, my T21 was 1:430 and combined 1:260 that put me in high risk. Went for 4 x 4D scans everything was 100% with baby only problem they could pick up was my Anomic Fluid was high at 30weeks i was told due to high levels my baby might me a Down syndrome my fluid level combined 4 corners was 27. Today i feel broken lost like an empty person, because why only now, im not prepared im scared. I did so many tests en bloodwork everything was normal. It was just the nipt test that stated im a high risk cant do anomic test im too far along. Does any have any idea on how i must handle this or had similar experience. Does anyone know the criteria of the 12weeks blood test report HCG,PAPP MOM & NT**

I am so sorry, this would be incredibly hard to find out so late that there may be a problem Mumsnet has an antinatal testing board (www.mumsnet.com/talk/antenatal_tests_choices) where everyone posting has questions about similar issues. My baby had Edwards so I spent a bunch of time there but I don't know much about Downs. I really hope that you can get some answers. I also think that the charity ARC (www.arc-uk.org/), which supports woman with antinatal testing issues might be able to help. Sending you so much strength in this difficult time.

Thank You very much, i just wanted more information on the situation as the Internet has so much different stories some with higher possibility to have a baby with T21 and some with fewer probability and had a baby with T21 just wanted to know some other woman’s experience

Regards

Hi @Ladyred02 sorry to here this i know how your feeling right now i am 22 i have a 11 month old child and pregnant again last week at 13 weeks i found out the baby has trisomy 21 which crumbled my world and im struggling to cope to be honest. My bloods come back 1 in 5 for downsyndrome and at my 12 week scan baby had a high NT. Sadly im not going through with the pregnancy and even tho the baby is much loved and much wanted it would just be too much for me right now. The only advice i can give is do what is best for you and your family and keep hope.

Hi Hi @MumOf1boyx i wish i knew this information earlier, but im 34 weeks and I can’t do anything, i would have loved to do the Amniotic test but its too risky as I might go into early labour. But just to have hope im scared but in a few weeks ill know and have to face what will be put on my path.

im so sorry to hear, and understand the hurt you are feeling. I wish you all of the best this can’t be easy at all. But it’s like you said we need to do the best for our family.

Hi @Ladyred02 i’m really sorry to hear you are going through this.
Have you spoken to a doctor since your results came in?
If they haven’t offered you any counselling? I would suggest a request given all this news at this stage.

Ladyred02 · 19/02/2023 08:38

Hi @firsttimelondonmummy no they didn’t offer my doctor just said if the test shows positive then thats how my baby will be born he did suggest to put in a request to terminate the pregnancy rather. I was in a state of limbo as im 33weeks im feeling her i bonded with her and how can I just do this! I’m just broken and want to give the best life to her im hoping she will be normal, as they cant find any soft markers on the scans but my doctor said the bloodtest is more accurate than the scan even if everything shows normal on the scans.

I've just had my baby 5 days ago and had polyhydraminos and nothing was mentioned to me about DS. Risks were things like cord prolapse or big baby. I had neither though and she's fine.

firsttimelondonmummy · 19/02/2023 18:52

@Ladyred02 the NIPT tests are highly accurate.
I really would ask for some counselling/ therapy to help you process and prepare as I imagine this is a lot for you right now.
My dms are always open if you want to chat ❤️
