Is this labour?

I know, I know … “You‘ll just know when you’re in labour” … but this time I have no idea.

Today is my due date with DC2 and I am currently lying on my side on my sofa with a horrendous back ache. Also experiencing on and off period cramps, which seem to be radiating down my thighs … I’m home alone (DD is with grandparents for the day and DH is at work) and enjoyed a couple of hours in the greenhouse earlier on this morning so thinking it may just be muscle ache from hunching over, sowing various seeds.

I’ve been having these sort of symptoms for what feels like weeks now 🙄 so maybe I’m just wishful thinking! But does anybody have any experience of back pain being a sign of the onset of labour? I’m confident this baby is also back to back - DD had to be (rather unceremoniously) turned during the last stage of labour and I remember the back pain well.

I don’t want to send anyone into a panic when I could have another fortnight of being pregnant (ho hum), so shall I sit tight and open another box of chocolates or start thinking about calling the DH home from work?

Feel your pain OP, 38+5 here and monitoring every twinge. With my first baby back pain was a sign of labour, but it was accompanied by (and got more intense with) contractions - have you had any of those yet?

How are you doing? Back pain was my first sign of Labour, had that for a few hours before I had any tummy cramps x

Still have back ache but no other signs. :(

Only 40+1 but feel like I’ve been pregnant forever now.
