Bleeding and passing clots around 6 weeks pregnant

Please help I need some reassurance!

I went for a private scan last week, just to check that everything is ok, I didn't have any concerns. They said I was too early (around 5+3) and to come back after two weeks. The scan ended inconclusive. I wasn't worried as it seemed normal if my dates were wrong.

Yesterday, I started bleeding pinkish blood in the morning, got referred to EPU but whilst waiting for the appt, the bleeding got heavier and bright red. I have had extremely mild cramping, if any.

The EPU said the baby is measuring 5+1 so I am extremely confused as to how two sonographers are saying different things?

Anyway, the EPU has said that basically as they cannot see a heartbeat (it hasn't formed into an embryo yet), there's no way to see if the baby is ok yet and to go back next Friday.

My concern is, last week it was a yolk sac & fetal pole AND this week it is still that? I'm not sure on measurements as last weeks' one was private and NHS had nothing to base it off as they hadn't scanned me before.

Has anyone experienced bleeding with clots in early pregnancy? I have read about Hematomas but wouldn't that be picked up on an ultrasound? I'm still bleeding now and it's honestly just making me depressed

Anyone?!

@babymummy96 I think the key as you've been told is it's too early to tell. Sadly bright red blood tends not to be a happy ending, but try not to lose all hope as this isn't conclusively the case. That early as it's so so so tiny, 2 days difference in their measures is normal. They don't need a 'base' to scan you from. They scan thousands of women. Best of luck, it's just a waiting game, which is horrible and so so hard.

@babymummy96 I was scanned at 6 +1 and there was a heartbeat and everything else there was meant to be... but they do say 6 weeks tends to be minimum to see a heartbeat so try to just get through the next 4 days and get someone to scan you again, either NHS or privately.

Fingers crossed for you, unfortunately it’s just too early to tell yet. I know it’s hard not to panic but it isn’t always bad news - I had a full on week of bleeding at 7 weeks, with clots, and was sure it would be bad news but we’re now at 15 weeks and everything is still scanning as fine. Hope your case is similar x

@Porcupette thank you for this. May I ask, did you have bad cramping pains? Mine have got worse overnight and this morning. I am pretty sure I am miscarrying however I still have slight hope as I just want it so bad.

Also, if you don't mind me asking, was the blood bright red?

Thanks x

@babymummy96 sorry to hear this, it's so stressful ☹️ it is too early to tell, so waiting til Friday is all you can do really. How are your test lines looking? Mine were lighter when I misscarried at 5 weeks (although this is probably different for everyone and my HCG must have been very low). Keeping everything crossed for you xx

Porcupette · 12/02/2023 10:51

Cramps on and off, mostly darker colour but some bright red too. It was like a really bad period! Best guess from the midwives is that it was the other side of the uterus lining to where the egg had attached.

My last test was very strong. Waiting a few days until I retest.

Thanks everyone xx

Hi OP. Sorry you're going through this 😔 I think I'd retest sooner rather than later to make sense out of what's happening ❤️x

babymummy96 · 14/02/2023 11:30

This is my test today... 5 days bleeding now.

Would you say it's a strong test or not? I'm unsure as the last test I did was at the doctors and she only briefly showed me so I can't remember how it looked then.

Any thoughts?

Also should add, although I have the bleeding/cramps, I still have extremely sore boobs, am still putting on weight like there's no tomorrow (approx 1lb a day, which was the same before I started bleeding), still getting night sweats

@babymummy96 hmmm I'm not sure it is that strong. Have you tried a weeks indicator? If you're sure on day of conception you should get at least a between 2-3 weeks - the level of HCG required for this is on the pack. At 6 weeks I think you should get a 3+ weeks. You'd be best getting a scan at the end of the week.

Can I ask what the outcome was for you? I’m currently experiencing this and I’m losing all hope.

I hope you’re okay.
