I am only in my first trimester but reading your discriptions is making me worried! Is there anything nice about pregnancy (except the horny part)?

MrsTittleMouse · 16/02/2008 13:20

Seeing the bump grow is lovely, as is feeling the baby kick. And the ultrasound scans are really cool. We could see DD jumping up and sliding down my uterus at the 12 week one, which was a good indicator of her personality!
So there are some nice bits, honest. And I don't think that the women who "glowed" or "blossomed" through pregnancy (like my Mum) have as much reason to post here as those of us who need to have a good moan.

I thnk the thing is that you just deal with it as you go along. As long as everything health wise is ok with you and the LO, you can deal with the heartburn (which you might not get) and the constant nausea (which you just learn to live with cos there's nowt you can do).

Having 3 trimesters mapped out in front of you is pretty good mentally as well since you have "landmarks" to kinda look out for and being on Mumsnet is great cos there's always someone else going through what you are going through and it really helps to have some empathy I think.

Brilliant things about being pregnant are definitely the fact that you are constantly in awe of the little person growing inside you and how strong and resilient he/she must be to go through what they do in 9 months. Feeling the flutters at first and not being sure if it's a poo or a baby swirling around, then feeling the first proper kick on to playing "guess the body part" when lumps and hands or feet start poking out of your belly.

Obviously actually seeing LO on the scan is amazing and every time you hear the heartbeat at MW appt is cool too.

Baby's hiccups are cool too - when you feel a little repetitive thump thump thump and you get to know when your LO has the hiccups. Kinda melts your heart.

Just try and take it easy and just see how it goes as you go along. The thing about the internet is that you can find out EVERYTHING there is to know about pregnancy so you can end up with too much information and completely terrify yourself!!! Just take care of yourself and your LO and hopefully your 3 words might be more positive
