Ectopic?

Just looking for some reassurance.

I'm 37 years old and 5+4 weeks pregnant. I'm also overweight and this is my second pregnancy pregnancy.

Ever since I found out last week I've had what feels like a pulled muscle in my left groin/pelvis area. It's feels like something is pulling. I can't say it's particularly painful but it can be uncomfortable. I've also felt twinges in my right side but this feeling in my left is constant.

I'm having all the normal symptoms of early pregnancy; frequent urination, nausea and tender boobs.

I've stupidly been on Google and have now worried myself sick that my pregnancy is ectopic. Does anyone have any advice?

Twinges on one side are very normal. I had quite strong twinges accompanied by bleeding so that was investigated to rule out ectopic. It turned out to be just a cyst that was causing discomfort and cysts seem to be very common. Most don't even notice them.
I'd say keep an eye on it but don't stress. If you start having stringer pain or bleeding, go to a&e just to be safe. x

@UnicornRainbowSky

Thank you so much for replying and for your great advice.

I think I'm going to monitor it and if the pain worsens or I have any bleeding then I'll speak to my doctor.

My anxiety is through the roof with this pregnancy, (my last was 8 years ago) and I think I need to step away from google.

I had the same around 5 weeks and was totally convinced it was ectopic, all was okay. If you’re worried then call you GP who will hopefully refer you to an early pregnancy unit. Or you can self refer. I did exactly this and had a scan at 5+3, too early to see any embryo but they could see enough to know if was in the right place. Also took my bloods which came back positive. It completely helped me to relax (for a week or so!)

Hi I'm actually going through something very similar to you. I have brr. Having constant mild to moderate cramping pains or twinges on left side mainly and then had my bfp finally just 2 days ago which I did think was strange. 4 weeks according to LMP. I was referred to my epu today and had a scan - they couldn't see anything so it's been diagnosed as PUL for now. Back for bloods ok Sat. Its the waiting and not knowing that's the worst. I hope it all works out for you.

@Loulou435 Hi sorry to jump on here, but I see this was only last month. I am 4 weeks plus 2 days and having similar symptoms. Can I ask how you got on/what your out come was? Hoping all was okay for you!

Loulou435 · 21/03/2023 12:35

Hi there. So the symptoms subsided and an internal scan showed a pregnancy in the uterus! There was however a rather large corpus luteum cyst which the sonogropher said was normal and can cause discomfort. But I also had a urine infection which became evident in the 3rd sample I sent, not the first or second. It was all so strange but feeling very relieved ofcourse. I hope it goes the same or better for you. Let me know how you get on. Everyone on here has been so supportive especially the support team who were available via emails. So amazing.

@Loulou435 thank you for replying!! Im so pleased all is okay, despite the pain and many tests by the sounds of it!

I do already know I have a small cyst on my left side - it has been monitored the last 2 months so I am hoping my pain on my left side is being caused by this. I am also getting cramps in the middle and sometimes the right I would just say the left is more noticeable.

Everyone on here has been so amazing and supportive - ive posted more in the last few days than I have in a whole year, im so anxious after getting a positive pregnancy test!! I just want to ensure everything is okay and where it should be, but I know it really is just a waiting game for a scan. I should be able to get an early scan at some point next week to put my mind at rest.

Good luck with the scan I know exactly what you mean! Hopefully you will know very soon and can actually start enjoying the pregnancy. Thinking of you!
