Flu Vaccine

Hello,

My GP and local pharmacies don't have the flu vaccine in stock, just wondered if people were still getting it done or whether there is not a lot of point as it is close to being out of season (from March I believe?). I am about 8 weeks pregnant, I had a bad cold a few weeks ago which has made me think about the flu jab. Not sure whether to look into getting it done privately or whether the risk is generally considered pretty low now at this time of year?

Have you tried your local big tesco or boots/superdrug?

I'd definitely make the most of qualifying for a free NHS flu jab and I think these shops do provide free jabs for those who qualify.
There are still plenty of people getting sick with flu at the moment and that's something you really don't need in the first (or any!) trimester

Have just noticed this! I caught flu in early December at around 20 weeks pregnant and spent a few days in hospital. It took me 8 weeks to recover. I was late booking the jab and had flu already by the time I was supposed to get it. Get the flu jab! Flu can be awful if you are pregnant! I’ve learnt my lesson! Ask your midwife about it - that and the whooping cough vaccine x

Sorry for the late reply, but yeah I checked Tesco and thankfully they do have it locally to me thanks @SouthwestSis for the suggestion. I'm booked in tomorrow 😊
