Cramping prior to BFP result

Hey,

Just wondering did anyone experience light cramping on and off in their pelvis from around 7 DPO, up to their BFP result. Comes and goes on and off. Not severe, very similar to pms cramps. Something I have not had in years.

TIA ❤️

Yep, I had that! I was convinced my period was on the way but no… I think cramps can carry on throughout the first trimester, though mine have eased off a bit now (I’m six weeks today).

Yes, me too! I had IVF and I had cramping from about 4dp5dt (which is equivalent to 9dpo). I had one cramp that was so strong it woke me up in the night. The cramping has gradually lessened and now I just feel some pulling. I'm exactly 5 weeks today.

Congrats. You must be over the moon. Did you find that some of the pain radiated to your side and hip.? When did you test? Congrats again.

Yep this was me at the weekend! Was absolutely convinced I was out and was getting pms cramps. Took a test on Sunday just to rule myself out and I saw the faintest line. Was so shocked! Line has been getting darker as the weeks gone on so fingers crossed! This will be my third baby so you'd think I would know the signs but obviously not 🤣

I think the pains are different for everyone so try not to compare yourself too much. I had a mixture - some felt exactly like period pains, some were stabby pains, and some felt like my womb was buzzing! I tested 9dp5dt (so 14dpo). Got a much stronger positive first thing the next morning.

Best of luck!

I tested at four weeks since my last period. I think the cramps started a few days before that and lasted for a few days after. Since then I’ve had slightly stabby pains in my lower front and right side, and a bit of what feels like pulling, but they come and go. Congratulations!

Lhdale · 07/02/2023 14:43

Yes I had cramping, it’s how I knew I was pregnant. Cramps were like
pre period cramps but it was too early for it to be a period, this would have been about 8-9DPO. Got a very very faint line 10DPO with a cheap early preg test. Much clearer line (but still faint) with a FRER evening of 11DPO. Im
now 9 weeks and it’s been the longest 5+ weeks ever. Can’t wait to get to 12, never imagined it would be such an anxious time (perhaps naively!)

Lizbiz89 · 07/02/2023 14:51

@Lhdale have you had a reassurance scan? I had these with both of my prior pregnancies and seemed to help with the anxiety a lot in those early weeks.

Lhdale · 07/02/2023 14:56

Yes I did yesterday! But im in such a state, I’ve now panicked from looking at the photo that the gestational sac was too small, the fetus was quite squished and other photos I’ve seen at 9 weeks have much larger sacs. The scan was so quick and they didn’t measure the sac length so it didn’t occur to me at the time. I’ve booked in another for next Tuesday when I’ll be ten weeks and will make sure I ask about the sac and in the meantime just trying to not worry.

the anxiety I know is silly but it’s not out of nowhere, I’m coming out of two years being bedridden with long covid so I have very little trust in my body to get things right

Lizbiz89 · 07/02/2023 15:01

@Lhdale I completely understand your anxiety. Hopefully when you get to 12 weeks you will feel better. Just remember to be kind to yourself ❤️

Lhdale · 07/02/2023 15:03

@Lizbiz89 thank you ❤️. And congrats on your BFP!

JumbleJo · 07/02/2023 16:01

@Lhdale Not silly at all, I feel exactly the same! Every new twinge (or even a lack of twinges!) can be very stressful. I’m counting down the days to 12 weeks…

xprincessxjanetx · 07/02/2023 20:47

Cramping is extremely common in early pregnancy. I have had it all 7 times, it's just your uterus stretching to accommodate the new pregnancy.

Thanks so much for all the replies. Congrats to ye all. Did anyones cramps last most of the day? Also when did everyone do a test?

I had period like cramps on and off until about 5/6 weeks probably, as well as back pain. 24 weeks now and all well!
