Amniotic fluid or discharge?

Hi sorry if TMI but I'm just wondering if anyone has experienced water like discharge in third trimester?

Today was the third time I've felt watery stuff come out and today it was enough to soak my pants, it felt like I had wet myself. I'm almost 34 weeks so just worried that it could be amniotic fluid leaking?

I did smell it incase it was urine and the baby was lying on my bladder. It had a bit of a smell but not sure what

This gets more common further on you go
They usually say put a pad on and monitor
if its waters it keeps on coming? And highly unlikely if ur plug is intact?
discharge is like water and iv always felt it just run out... annoying! Some days havr to changr halfway through the day
some days nothing

I had this with my first pregnancy OP.
So it smelt like hay and it was definitely not urine, the midwives at the hospital didn't believe me but I think it was a little bit of waters because my plug came soon after that!
I think you don't need to worry unless all your waters come out (and then the baby has no fluid so infection is greater) but a little bit isn't a concern.
Hope all goes well for you! X

And meant to say it was a week or 2 before I actually went into labour!

I'd go to DAU and get a swab, I thought I'd wet myself but it was my waters and I got throughly told off for not going in straight away! They give 24 hours for labour to start if you're past 37 weeks before induction or steroids if you pre 37 weeks

Thank you so much for getting back to me. What week did this happen to you then and how far along were you when you went into labour?

TMI- Hi! Just need some advice over the past few days I’ve felt my nickers becoming quite wet, and today throughout the day they just kept feeling wet, is this amniotic fluid leaking? Or just discharge?

Amniotic fluid or discharge?

@Kiara427 its likely just discharge which is very common towards the end but if you think it might be waters please contact the midwives. They will ask you to put a pad on and they’ll do a test to see if it’s your waters.

@Lollyloup91 just for future reference even a little bit of your waters coming out is an massive risk of infection. It happened with my first, my plug didn’t come out at all but I had hind waters coming out. I was induced and she was born 48 hours after and we both ended up staying in hospital for 5 days. If it is your waters you either need inducing within 24 hours or if it’s early steroids and potentially antibiotics, there’s a big risk of baby getting an infection.

Hi! Okay yes will give them a call! As I also got tested positive for premature labour over a week ago and had to stay in for a few nights. and I’m getting slight cramping in my lower belly as well. I noticed the wetness over the past two days just seemed to be coming out throughout the day! Is it possible for waters to leak slowly?

Kiara427 · 06/03/2023 08:10

And also I am 26 weeks and 2 days so I’m not near the end yet

Twoinapod · 06/03/2023 12:23

@Kiara427 yes mine were slowly both times, I’ve never had a big gush of water. It’s likely just increased discharge which happens in pregnancy, but definitely go get it checked just incase

I've been getting this quite a lot. I think it's urine for me though. Anyone else leaked urine in 3rd trimester?!
Every time I get up! 😭
