Possible kidney infection 3rd trimester - what to do?

Hi,

im currently in my 3rd trimester. Have a UTI and been on antibiotics for 2 days. My question is I now have back pain, it’s constant dull pain, between my ribs and hips so in the kidney area. I’m worried the UTI is turning into a kidney infection which is obviously quite serious when pregnant. I don’t have a fever or chills, tho I do feel generally unwell and
tired, but since I have a UTI that is no surprise.

have googled and see that a kidney infection when pregnant can cause sepsis 🙈 which is obv freaking me out.

not sure if I should just wait till tomorrow and phone GP in the hope of getting through to them on the phone first thing and getting a same day appointment? Or should I phone maternity triage since I’m 3rd trimester? I don’t want to waste their time since it’s not directly a pregnancy issue. Also don’t want to drive all the way there to have them tell me I should just go to GP tomorrow.

any thoughts?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

In my area it's the maternity unit we phone for uti's so I would defo be phoning them and letting them know that I feel worse rather than better considering 2 days of antibiotics. Especially in 3rd trimester. Fingers crossed your on the mend soon x

Call your maternity unit. I'd like to think they'll ask you to come straight in to check. I had one at 22 weeks, it was horrendous, at one point I thought I was going to have to call an ambulance.

Thanks. I phoned and they asked me to come in to get checked over, so doing that now.

I just always worry they will think I’m being a hypochondriac and wasting their time!

You've 100% done the right thing, good luck. An infection at this stage can put you into Labour so they will get on top of it. Let us know how it goes x

I’m going through something similar at the moment.
how did everything go for you?
