Anyone else awake?

I'm 30w and my DH snores, tosses and turns rocking the bed like it's a ship in a storm, calls out in his sleep and is just generally awful to sleep next to at the best of times, let alone when suffering with pregnancy insomnia. We have a spare room and on the rare occasion he does sleep up there (if it suits him), I always sleep through the night when alone! Yet he won't sleep up there on a regular night, only if he's been drinking or has an early 530am work start. The bed is made up with sheets that he won't change after his parents came to stay at Christmas, so I won't sleep up there. It's the only room in the house he is responsible for cleaning and he just doesn't ever do it.

So I'm on the sofa now instead. 30w pregnant. Awake since 1am. Have read my book. Have pottered on MN, read the news online. Have tried to sleep to no avail. And I'll be up with the toddler by 7am. DH, he's out tomorrow, it was just for the evening but realistically it'll from midday, he forgot to tell me that part.

I'm exhausted.

Anyone else awake? Is it too early for toast and a decaf?

Never too early for toast and decaf!
Toddler has me awake and I’m up again at 6:30 😴 Luckily, DH has just taken over (though I do wish he’d got up with her in the first place!) 15weeks pregnant and feeling very 🤢 - the nausea still hasn’t left me and is made worse when I’m tired. All the fun and games, isn’t it?!
Hope you manage some rest soon, pregnancy insomnia is the WORST. I find putting something on quietly, like Friends, that I’ve seen a trillion times, usually helps me nod off eventually. Good luck!

Margo34 · 04/02/2023 03:48

I find the TV keeps me awake even more 🙈

I hope your nausea passes soon 🤞 I've been very lucky in that respect in both my pregnancies.

How do you get you DH to get up with the toddler at night? I physically have to push mine out the bed and rip the duvet off him for help with the toddler in the night. Which he hates but you know, needs must.

Marmalade or Nutella?

1 marmalade and 1 Nutella

violetcuriosity · 04/02/2023 03:57

Yep, 38 weeks and been awake since 2:30. Partner went out for a 'drink' at 7pm and after a really unsettled sleep I finally called him at 2:30, he was absolutely off his face. Also have a 7 year old with a temperature. Literally the one thing we've agreed he wouldn't do past 35 weeks, I'm absolutely furious. I've put the chain on the door and my phone in airplane mode, heard him try to come in about half an hour ago hopefully he's gone to his Mum's where he'll get a worse bollocking than here. He's usually so good and then every now and then makes such a fuck up!! What if I'd gone into labour? Needed to take DD to A&E? Argh.

I’m very lucky in that he’s great and we’ve always done a night on duty, a night off duty, so we’re both getting rest (after being a great sleeper as a baby, she had a year of terrible sleep from 9months until 21months and has only just settled back in to sleeping through!)

Nutella all the way!

Gah, I really should get off Mumsnet and sleep 🙈

Hadn't even occurred to me to have 2 pieces! 🙌

I would be livid! I hope he doesn't get to sleep off his hangover at his mum's.

If I locked my DH out though he'd have nowhere to go and would probably try to break in and drunkenly attempt to kick the door in, probably breaking his foot in the process.

I did feel a bit bad then thought about how he didn't care whether we were ok while he was out and I actually couldn't bear to see his annoying drunk face. I'm not putting up with this, it's literally the only thing we agreed wouldn't happen as I'm so vulnerable atm. He won't lie in at his Mum's she's really hard work, he'll probably be pissed off that he's there but hopefully it'll remind him of how life would be if he only has himself to worry about. Part of me wants to go into labour to prove the point 🤣 I'm so angry that I won't get anymore sleep tonight now either! Might make some toast too, got an Aldi bakery tiger loaf yesterday 😄

Margo34 · 04/02/2023 04:15

@violetcuriosity ugh, don't blame you, I can't bear the annoying drunk face either. That'll be my DH tomorrow no doubt.

ooh nice bread! I love a tiger loaf but noone else in my house will eat it, fussy bunch.

And then the peaceful sleep they somehow manage to have even though they know you're absolutely seething next to them 🤣 He is generally pretty good but this has just really pissed me off.

Sulkyatforty · 04/02/2023 04:23

37 wks on my third pregnancy and always get pregnancy insomnia it’s so annoying!

Zapx · 04/02/2023 04:38

38 and 1 and third pregnancy. Just got the 1yo back down and the 4yo has just joined me lol…. Both have colds. DH managed to sleep through everything so far. Pregnancy insomnia sucks!

doughyparton · 04/02/2023 06:51

@violetcuriosity I’m very invested in the conversation you have with your DH tomorrow and how that turns out 😂😂😂

Margo34 · 04/02/2023 07:53

I think I dropped off again after about 430am and then the toddler woke up and was singing Jingle Bells just before 7, annoyingly cute 😂 I hope you all managed to get some sleep again.

@violetcuriosity hope your DH pays his comeuppance today!

I get why you don't want to change the sheets, but honestly I'd just change them and start sleeping in the spare room. You're cutting off your nose to spite your face.

violetcuriosity · 04/02/2023 08:16

DD and I have just woken up so got a couple more hours luckily. Omg I am raging with him 🤣 he'll show up at some point soon I imagine, I'll let you know 😂. What a tool seriously, he could have a second daughter by now.

Toddler still sometimes comes into bed with me for resettling and the spare bed isn't safe for bedsharing. Which is why it's the spare. But it's not every night that the toddler wakes though I suppose. I don't fancy changing the sheets at 1/2/3/4am though and the room is our office during the day so I can't get in there during the day - which is why it is DH job to clean that room.
Otherwise I probably would.

You could prank him in a message that the baby has arrived overnight and see how that goes 😂

(I say this because I'd be genuinely curious about DH reaction but I wouldn't dream to do it myself, boy who cried wolf and all that, so don't actually do it)!

🤣🤣 at 4am this morning I was very tempted to do that.

He arrived home at 8am looking horrific 😂 very sheepish and his Mum had completely bollocked him. I said there must have been a point in the night where he knew he was crossing a line and carried on anyway and he said yeah and that he was just having such a good time, what a joke. We had a row and then got over it, he's now cooking us a homemade curry 🙌🏻😄
