Contractions starting?

Hey, I've been getting tightening all day, and they've started to get slightly painful tonight.
I've had braxton hicks for weeks, but not felt crampy like this. A hot water bottle seems to be easing it slightly, but am wondering if it sounds like contractions might be starting or just false labour.
Can anyone share what their contractions first felt like?
I was induced with my first pregnancy so don't know what naturally going even labour feels like!!

I would give it time, have a bath and see if that eases them.
I thought labour was starting twice but nothing came of it after 5/6 hours, think the first time was indigestion and second time was lightening as bump felt different after and was lower..

Oh sorry, meant to say it felt like I was getting my period both times but then it just went
Actual labour pains ramped up every hour or so and increased in intensity

Thanks, happening about every 10ish mins but I've managed to get some sleep so clearly not painful enough to stop me falling asleep. Still happening now though but haven't increased in volume or intensity.
I've got a c section planned in a week and they've told me to call if contractions start which is why I'm trying to work out if it is! I have a scan today anyway so think I'll get checked out while there if its still happening! Thanks.

Hi OP.
If the intervals between them get shorter, that's when you need to time them, and phone triage for advice.

With my first I woke up with period type pains that came and went getting closer together. It then was really uncomfortable to sit down as felt like someone was sharply attacking me.

With my second it felt like someone squeezing my pelvis, wasn’t painful at first but coming every 4 minutes. Gradually progressed to just a painful ‘wave’ type feeling all over my lower half which started off like a feeling my stomach would rumble, then kept getting more painful before teetering off.

Mine were ever 10 mins from half 4, by half 8 I was on my way in as every 3 mins
